100528-A-7797A-028 Builder 2nd Class George E. Sampson, a Bronx, N.Y., native (left), and Builder 1st Class Richard M. Conklin, a Jackson, N.J., native, prepare an opening for the installation of an air-conditioning unit into a living area in Baghdad March 28. This job is just one of many in a nearly eight-month tour for the Seabees of Navy Marine Construction Battalion 21. Since arriving in March, the Seabees of NMCB-21 have supported several elements of the Special Operations Task Force Central with anything from health and safety repairs, building secure storage areas and expanding and improving living conditions. "They countine to impress us with their abilities," said Army Capt. Raymond Guerra, SOTF-C's Engineer Officer. "They can take an idea and make it a reality with a limited scope of work and guidance." The Seabees most recent big project is the construction of housing and offices for the SOTF's Multipurpose-Canine handlers as well as training and kenneling areas for the Canines.
