Image title | 110926-N-ZL585-181 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Sept. 26, 2011) Rear Adm. Walter E. Carter, Jr., commander of Joint Enabling Capabilities Command, is interviewed by WWLP-22News television reporter Seth Stutman inside an exhibitor building at the Eastern States Exposition during New England Navy Week 2011, one of 21 Navy Weeks being held this year across the country. Rear Adm. Carter, a native of Pascoag, R.I., is slated to assume command of the USS Enterprise Carrier Strike Group. The Navy has a broad array of assets on display at this year's Expo, more commonly referred to as "The Big E," ranging from Sailors assigned to the 213-year-old warship USS Constitution demonstrating boarding pike and gun drills, to Navy Flight Simulator rides, to the Office of Naval Research displays featuring hands-on underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). New England Navy Week 2011 runs from Sept. 24 to Oct. 2. Navy Weeks are designed to showcase the investment Americans have made in their Navy as a global force for good and increase awareness in cities that do not have a significant Navy presence.
