Description

This doorway opens into a long tunnel that leads to Castillo San Cristobal's main plaza. It is the longest of six hidden passages in the fortress.

Tunnels were an important part of fortifications like San Cristobal. They protected soldiers from enemy fire and allowed commanders to move large number of troops to new positions, unseen by the enemy.
