Description
English: Date: c. 1910

Object number: A.2009-55

Medium: paper; photo-emulsion

Dimensions (Unframed): 8" x 10"

Description: A rural letter carrier’s eyes peak out from the layers of winter clothing that kept him warm during harsh Ohio winters. In the early 20th century, wagons, sleds or automobiles were poorly insulated against harsh temperatures. Even if carriers never had to leave their wagon or sled, sturdy coats, scarves, gloves, and robes were critical to keep from freezing while completing their daily rounds.
