English: This passage, originally protected by a safe-style door which can still be seen here, led from the rear vault room to the safe deposit vault in the basement of the University National Bank building, northeast corner of NE 45th Street and University Way NE, Seattle, Washington. This picture is taken relatively late in a major renovation process. I have no idea whether that sprinkler system pipe was put through while the vaults were still in use, but it wouldn't have been much of a security issue, since each of the rooms was reachable from the hallway only by a proper vault door.
