Porträt Joseph von Brassier de Saint Simon-Vallade (1798-1872), Diplomat und Freund Gustav Partheys (1798-1872).Brassier ist als Hering mit Porträtkopf dargestellt. Neben dem Titel "Joseph v. Brassier" und einem Vers unter dem Bild, ist der linke Rand der Zeichnung mit einem großen und einem kleinen "H" versehen. - nachträglich mit einem Kreuz hinter dem Titel/Namen versehen [Bildunterschirift] Den Heering man in Schweden faengt/ Dem Fuchs zu hoch die Traube hängt.Biografisches Joseph Maria Anton von Brassier de Saint Simon-Vallade (1798–1872) war Diplomat und ein Freund Gustav Partheys (1798–1872). Er stammte aus einer alten elsässischen Familie. Sein Vater hatte in der Französischen Revolution 1789 alles verloren und wanderte schließlich mit seiner Familie nach Deutschland aus. Sie fanden auf den Gütern der Fürstin Pauline von Hohenzollern (1782–1845) in Schlesien Unterschlupf. Hier entwickelte sich auch eine Freundschaft zwischen Joseph von Brassier, Gustav Parthey und Konstantin (1801–1869), dem Erbprinzen der Hohenzollern. 1819 wechselte Brassier vom Gymnasium in Züllichau an die Universität Berlin. (1) Später wandte er sich einem juristischen Studium an der Universität Heidelberg zu und schlug eine diplomatische Laufbahn ein. „Joseph v. Brassier hatte ein sehr hübsches, ausdrucksvolles Gesicht, dem die erblichen Augen zu besonderer Zierde dienten; sein Wuchs war etwas zu schmächtig, und seine zarte Gesundheit wahrscheinlich die Folge einer fürchterlichen Verbrühung, die ihn in seiner Kindheit an den Rand des Grabes brachte.
