Description

Volgens het door Napoleon vastgestelde ontwerp tot bevestiging der Stelling van Den Helder (Maart 1812) zouden de forten Lasalle (Erfprins) l'Ecluse (Dirks Admiraal) en Dugommier (West- en Oostoever) met elkaar verbonden worden door een verbindingswal met achtergelegen kanaal. Door de verschillende oorlogen is aan de linie veel gebouwd en gesloopt.

April 2009 in men begonnen met de aanleg van een coupure (de plek waar de linie wordt doorsneden door de Middenweg), deze wordt voorzien van aan weerszijden gemetselde muren. Van origine waren deze gemetselde coupures niet aanwezig in Den Helder. Bron: www.fortendenhelder.nl
