Description

New Orleans: View of block Uptown shortly before it was demolished for the construction of Wisner Playground by the WPA.

Notes: I believe this view is from looking lakewards along Upperline Street from the corner of Annunciation. The architectural style seen is still common in the neighborhood, 19th century wooden "Doubles" (many of which have been converted into single residences in recent decades). Note the old style deep street gutters, with pedestrian "bridges" at the corners. -- Infrogmation (talk) 14:27, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
