Description
English: Photo taken in the "Gestapo room/office" at the Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Norwegian: Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway's largest exhibition of uniforms and smaller items related to the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway 1940 – 1945:
  • Mannequin dressed in a WWII summer field dress uniform of the Soviet Red Army (RKKA):
    • Gymnastyorka (Гимнастёрка, gimnasterka, gymnastiorka, gymnasterka, gimnastyorka) smock/field blouse/pullover tunic/jacket with standing collar, shoulder boards/straps, breast pockets and buttons
    • Excellent Sniper Badge (Знак Отличный снайпер) created 1942
etc.
The uniforms and equipment of the RKKA during the Great Patriotic War (GPW/WW2) can be described as simple, yet comfortable and practical. The basic uniform consists of a wedge cap (side cap, garrison cap, пилотка, pilotka) with a Red Star national cockade as cap badge, a pullover tunic (gymnastiorka), a pair of breeches (sharovari), and lastly, jackboots (sapogi) or ammo or ankle boots worn with puttees legwraps (botinki c obmotki). Telogreika (vatnik, fufaika) jackets and pants, i.e. Russian style warm, quilted, padded cotton winter outwear, became part of the Soviet Red Army winter uniform during the German-Soviet War (WWII).
