Description
Nederlands: Het wapen is uit de 14e eeuw. In de Engelse nl:Heraldiek is het gebruikelijk om op het wapen en wrong te plaatsen. Daarop rust het nl:helmteken. In dit geval is dat de kop van een nl:wildeman. Daarmee wordt, zo meent men, aangeduid dat de familie van de drager al sinds oeroude tijden van nl:adel is.

Op het continent plaatst men op het wapen ofwel een kroon of een helm met helmteken.

Om het wapen is de orde van de kouseband geknoopt. Ook heden te dage voeren de ridders in deze orde een dergelijk wapen.
English: Coat of arms from the 14th century. It's traditional in English heraldry to include a torse below the crest. In this case, the crest is the head of a wildman, which apparently symbolises that the family is noble since ancient times. On the continent, a crown or helmet with crest would be used. The band from the arms of the Order of the Garter is included. Knights of the order use a similar coat of arms to the present day.
