Nederlands: Je immuunsysteem is net een leger. De rekruten in het leger krijgen een speciale opleiding, waarbij ze leren om lichaamsvreemde cellen te herkennen. Maar soms gaat het helemaal mis en keert je lichaam zich tegen je eigen cellen. Alsof je een terroristische cel in je lijf hebt eigenlijk. Wat er dan mis gaat, legt immunoloog prof. dr. Huub Savelkoul je haarfijn uit (WUR).

Een grote passie voor onderwijs, dat typeert prof. dr. Huub Savelkoul, die niet voor niets Docent van het Jaar (WUR) werd in 2014. Zijn vakgebied is Celbiologie en Immunologie, wat betekent dat hij gefascineerd is door ons buitengewoon vernuftige immuunsysteem. Soms laat je immuunsysteem een steekje vallen en word je ziek. Wat kunnen we daartegen doen?
