DescriptionWhen Resolution Becomes Counter Productive (15656626036).jpg |
These days, with the advent of high resolution sensors in cameras the size of your phone, we reach a point where high resolution sensors begin to ruin images. This image here of Gemma is a prime example of a high resolution sensor giving an image an over processed feel and stealing from it its mystery and authenticity. For this image I used the Sony A7R, and had lighting setup from both sides to lift as much shadow as possible. Now normally, this results in a relatively flat image with little detail. But look what the A7R has done to this image. Although I applaud the quality of each and ever pixel and how the detail has been brought out so well, this image is NOT how the eye would effectively resolve this scene. There is too much detail and I find that off putting. The art of photography is to render a scene as close to how the human eye would experience it, and for me, this much detail does not do that. |
