Deutsch: Gedenkstein mit Tafeln im Erholungsgebiet „Steinhofgründe“ im 14. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Penzing.
Die Steinhofgründe, ein rd. 40 Hektar großes Areal, entstanden im Zuge des Baus des Otto Wagnerspitals. Ursprünglich wurden in diesem Bereich Schweine, Rinder und Kühe für die Versorgung des Spitals gehalten: [1]. Ende der 1970er-Jahre sollte dieses Gebiet verbaut werden. Nach Protesten gab es vom 9. bis 11. Dezember 1981 eine Volksbefragung, bei der sich rd. 140.000 Wiener gegen die Verbauung der Steinhofgründe aussprachen. Dies war eine wichtige Grundlage zur Schaffung des heutigen Erholungsgebietes. Der Gedenkstein, der an einer Wegkreuzung in der Nähe des Eingangs Feuerwache Am Steinhof errichtet wurde, erinnert an diese Bürgerinitiative: [2].
