English: Yellow-eyed Penguin on the Otago Peninsula, New Zealand
Deutsch: Die Otago Peninsula, auf der das Bild vom Gelbaugenpinguinschutzgebiet gemacht wurde, liegt auf der Südinsel Neuseelands, nicht weit von Christchurch entfernt. Hier wurde eine große Bucht mit dem dahinter liegenden Hügelland komplett zum Schutzgebiet erklärt. Die auf dem Bild sichtbaren grünen Tunnel sind bei Führungen durchs Schutzgebiet begehbar. Auf diese Weise kommt man mit ein wenig Glück sehr nah an die Pinguine heran, ohne sie im Mindesten zu stören. Man baut kleine Unterstände in das Schutzgebiet, die von den Pinguinen angenommen werden. Außerdem werden unzählige Bäume angepflanzt, um die Bucht wieder in ihren natürlichen Zustand zu versetzen. Es gibt zur Zeit (März 2007) ca. 100 Tiere im Schutzgebiet.
