The line is reduced to a single platform at this terminus - arriving trams come down the visible track on the right, while departing trams are switched to the left track, which is largely obscured in this shot by the poles. At this stage, while the line had still not opened, testing along the full route was underway. The strange appearance of the track on the left, which appears to continue on for a few feet, is seemingly to cater for the event that the system is ever extended as per the original plans, which had the line continuing past here, up Leith Walk. The illuminated diagonal line in the middle of the picture is a tram signal, telling drivers the points are set to the departure line - which in this shot it's visible that they clearly are, even though there appears to be no tram in the stop at this time. The pole nearest the camera is part of the pedestrian crossing provided for access to the stop, which sits in the middle of the road, although it appears to be still awaiting commissioning if the attached sign is anything to go by. On the left, a Lothian Buses bus is working a route 16 service to Colinton.
