@BoyuZhang1998: Nice work on this map! I just added it to the main pandemic article on en-WP, which is getting over 1,000,000 views per day. One change I'd recommend: The current color scheme doesn't adequately communicate at a glance just how many more cases there are in Hubei than elsewhere. I'd make Hubei not just a little darker red, but straight black to really stand out. It'd also be nice to change from per 100,000 to per million at some point to reduce the need for decimals in the legend. Sdkb (talk) 01:08, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@BoyuZhang1998: Thanks for the update. The coloring is still an issue, though. Can we make Hubei black, not just dark (per above)? Sdkb (talk) 08:19, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Colour edit

@BoyuZhang1998: Hi. In order to bring this map in line with similar maps, please consider using one of the following colour schemes. Thanks.

  • @Ythlev: I (personally) will consider that. Since the original color scheme was acting as a "regular practice" in Chinese Wikipedia and several Chinese Corona Map websites, any change of the color scheme of the other maps about COVID-19 may need other editors' agreements. But, as I have noticed in the talk thread in English Wikipedia, this color scheme is, based on ColorBrewer, claimed to be color-blind friendly and, for the 5-level variant, LCD and print friendly, I think it has a chance to get strong support from Chinese Wikipedia community. I plan to start a talk thread there to learn about their opinions. --BoyuZhang1998 (talk) 11:02, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ythlev: Please let the discussion about standardizing map format play out before going around encouraging editors to adopt a consistent format. It's premature — we need to reach consensus on what that format should be first. Sdkb (talk) 00:11, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Too outdated edit

Because the pandemic starts the China's second wave in 2022 so we should update it. Thingofme (talk) 11:29, 15 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

I updated (to only include local, symptomatic / confirmed cases) several days ago; Shanghai since then has passed cumulative 10 cases per 100K capita (2019 population estimate), but I am struggling to think of a new color for 10 to 100, which will be needed since the next two highest province-level divisions are below 7.6 / 100K.
