@Albert Poliakoff: . Based on a source you have given, colour of the text "ရန်ကုန်တိုင်းဒေသကြီး" should be red instead of black. နေနီဝန်း (talk) 09:59, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@နေနီဝန်း, I know, but the thing is there are variant patterns like a black text on the top of the flag or no text at all. Albert Poliakoff (talk) 10:31, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Albert Poliakoff: . But in this pattern, shouldn't it have a red text? What about creating separate flags for other variants? နေနီဝန်း (talk) 16:29, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@နေနီဝန်း I will replicate the design which has the dark blue badge and no text from this news video in 2022 Albert Poliakoff (talk) 01:16, 31 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

According to that video, the flags of Yangon Region and Sagaing Region became disputable. What do you think @Albert Poliakoff: EmeraldRange?
According to The Myanmar Times, the red field with Chinthe flag was pre-2019 flag of Sagaing Region. But in that news video, this flag is still used by the football team.
For Yangon Region, the flag without bottom text appeared in 2019 States and Regions U-19 Female Football Tournament which also appeared again in 2022 U-25 States and Regions Female Football Tournament as that video shows.
By seeing these, we can assume that 2010–2019 flag of Sagaing Region has become a Sport Team Flag because the 2019-present flag includes the Region's Seal and deemed inappropriate for sport tournament. For Yangon Region, the 2010–2021 flag already had two variants, Official Flag with red text below, and Sport Team Flag without any text, and the Sport Team Flag continued to be used after the Official Flag has changed.
So, I think that we should use the one with red text below for former flag of Yangon Region.
By the way, the tricolour with 2021-present Seal of Yangon Region includes the text "Yangon Region Government Group", it is a mystery whether this is only the flag of regional government. နေနီဝန်း (talk) 06:21, 31 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@နေနီဝန်း I personally think we can't really assume which flag is "official" or not, only from a sports event. One possible reason they're using "old" flags is that the "new" flags are not printed, made nor displayed in public. We can't also assume that they could be 'sport team flags' because teams from the states (Kachin, Karen, Rakhine) are seen with the official state flags. These teams being simply represented with colours in-game could suggest that the flags are for ceremonial purposes only. Not only just some sport events, we would need an instance such as government occasions to see what the "official" flag/design is like, although as I mentioned, they were not displayed much to the public eye. Agree: We have vary scant evidence. It also seems like they just change up the colours when they want. The parade that we keep linking to in Talk:List of Burmese Flags can't be the only source. I think the flag saying အစိုးရအဖွဲ့ is quite suspect however.
Generally, I think most of these flags have obviously been updated since 2010 or later so the old flags are definitely outdated. Ayeyarwady is back to white background here. Maybe they ran out of blue cloth lol. However, what the exact flag is right now we don't know. Even if it is not the current flag, it would still be best to use the most common flag from the past few years unless we can find either the 1) ပြန်တမ်း entry, 2) Official government Usage or 3) multiple instances where it is seen in news reporting. Sports reporting falls into category 3, and we need to see more than a few examples. EmeraldRange (talk) 12:16, 31 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Albert Poliakoff: The red flag of Mandalay, the white flag of Ayeyarwady and so on are visible together on 11 January 2022. Can we assume the date of recent flag change as late January 2022 or early February 2022? (Your MRTV news video is on 7 January 2002) နေနီဝန်း (talk) 09:03, 1 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
