This image is a much better image than File:Grieg Humoreske op 6 nr 4 bar 131 134.png. Even at screen size you can see the difference if you look at them side by side. If you look at them side by side at a size where the letters are 20mm (3/4") tall, the PNG shows heavy aliasing, while the JPG is clear and crisp. I certainly agree that images like this should be PNG, but not at the expense of a significant quality loss.

We need to remember that Commons is a repository for many different users, not just the Web. Those users who use a strange old fashioned machine called a "printing press" would find the PNG image unusable, while this one would be perfectly fine.      Jim . . . .
