Lothian Buses: Dennis Trident / Plaxton President (W reg open top)

English: The four open topN W registration batch of the Dennis Trident / Plaxton President fleet of buses operated by Lothian Buses. Delivered in July 2000, they were numbered 31-4, with registrations W631-4 PSX. These were the only open top buses bought new by the company, and the first to be low floor. Later low floor open top buses have been soured by converting buses from the main fleet - see Lothian Buses: open top buses. They arrived in the white & tartan livery of the Edinburgh Classic tour, augmenting the older open top Olympians used on it. Within a few months they had been repainted into the City Sightseeing red scheme, also applied to other types in the tour fleet. Latterly, No. 34 has been given a gold base livery, for use on special occasions. They have since been renumbered 531-4, numbers previously allocated to V-reg standard Tridents (now sold), bringing 31-4 into line with the series used for the V-reg open top conversions.
