Lothian Buses: Dennis Trident / Plaxton President

English: Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident buses operated by Lothian Buses. The company took delivery of 192 between June 1999 and June 2004, in several batches. The first 5 were part of the low-floor double-decker trial batches, resulting in the Trident/President being selected as the company's standard double-decker. It was then the only double-decker type bought until being replaced by the Volvo B7TL / Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini 1 combination. Most were for the standard fleet, arriving in the new Harlequin livery, with some of those seeing use in the guided bus fleet. Small numbers were also bought for the airport fleet. Four were also bought new as open top buses. The standard fleet buses wore various route brandings. The oldest 25 standard buses were retained and converted into open top buses. Withdrawals and sales of the later buses have commenced, some of the later batches have lasted long enough to receive Classic livery. Three of the X-reg batch were retained for the training fleet, while one closed top 52-reg has been retained as the boat tour bus. Six have/are being used in the Lothian Country fleet.
