Lothian Buses: guided buses

English: Guided buses operated by Lothian Buses. Fitted with horizontal guide-wheels, they were used on the short-lived West Edinburgh Busway (Dec 2004 - Jan 2009) on routes 2 & 22. They were identified with the addition of a G-suffix to their fleetnumbers, and a yellow diamond 'G' sticker on the dashboard, behind the windscreen.

Tridents for route 2 edit

For route 2, guidewheels were fitted to double-deckers from the Dennis Trident / Plaxton President fleet wearing plain Harlequin livery - initially to fifteen buses of the 2001 delivered 51-registered batch, No.s 616-630 (629/630 later renumbered 599/600). When No. 619 was involved in an accident on the busway, one bus from the 04-registered batch, No. 661 (the renumbered 706) replaced it. As part of renumbering in order to vacate No. 666 from another Trident, 628 was later given 619's number (666 becoming 628).

B7RLEs for route 22 edit

For route 22, guidewheels were fitted to single-deckers from the the Volvo B7RLE / Wrightbus Eclipse Urban 1 fleet, initially to the 35 buses of the first two batches, the 2004 & 2005 delivered 04 and 55 registered batches, No.s 101 to 130 (04 reg) and 131-135 (55 reg). They wore Harlequin livery, with five (101-105) arriving with minor nightbus branding, the rest with route 22 minor route branding - see Lothian Buses: route branding. At least one bus from the later 2008 delivered 58-registered batch, No. 601, also received guidewheels - possibly the other five did, in the short time before the busway closed.
