Zoom to the Zoo edit

Ten of the of the Connect 26 branded buses in the 09-registered B9TL / Gemini 2 batch also wore additional vinyls in the gaps where the standard Harlequin livery would otherwise be, to promote Edinburgh Zoo. These each represented a different animal & slogan, as follows:

  • No.s 316/7 – chimps / "Recognise Anyone?"
  • No.s 318/9 – penguins / "Dive On"
  • No.s 320/1 – tigers / "Have a Purrfect day Out"
  • No.s 322/3 – zebras / "Go Faster Stripes"
  • No.s 324/5 – rainbow lorikeets - "Take Off!"

  • Edinburgh Clipper - No.s 349 & 350 (SN59 BHE/F) of the Connect 22 branded buses in the 59-registered B9TL / Gemini 2 batch, received pink and purple vinyls in the same style as the Zoom to the Zoo buses, to promote Edinburgh's entry in the 2011-12 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race (yacht no. CV1, Edinburgh Inspiring Capital). They wore it from November 2011 until race was completed in June 2012.
  • Prostate Scotland - No. 901 (SN08 BXP) of the 08-registered B9TL / Gemini 1 batch received a special allover blue livery in October 2012 (replacing Harlequin), as part of the company's support the charity Prostate Scotland. Originally turned out with Lothianbuses.com fleetnames, it has since received the TfE style Lothian Buses fleetname.
  • Breakthrough Breast Cancer - No. 856 (SN57 DFJ) of the 07/57-registered B9TL / Gemini 1 batch received a plain allover pink livery in September 2013, as part of the company's support the breast cancer charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer (breakthrough.org.uk)'s 'Believe in the Possible' campaign. Originally turned out with Lothianbuses.com fleetnames, it has since received the TfE style Lothian Buses fleetname.
  • 50/50 bus - No. 918 (SN08 BYL) of the 08-registered B9TL / Gemini 1 batch received a special livery in September 2013 celebrating the transition between Harlequin livery and Classic livery - one half being kept in the Harlequin it currently wore, the other being repainted into Classic livery (the effect being replicated inside with the two different interiors). This was later replaced by allover blue scheme for the 2014 Festival Fringe.
  • 2014 Festival Fringe - No. 918 (SN08 BYL) of the 08-registered B9TL / Gemini 1 batch received a plain allover blue livery for the 2014 Festival Fringe (replacing the special 50/50 scheme)
  • Go Edinburgh 2016 No.s 367 (SN11 EBX) & 382 (SN11 EDJ) of the 11-registered B9TL / Gemini 2 batch were repainted from Classic (TfE) livery into a scheme promoting Edinburgh's bid to become the location of the proposed (Scottish) National Performance Centre for Sport (goedinburgh2016.com). The campaign was ultimately successful, with Edinburgh being announced the winner on 11 September 2013, beating bids from Stirling and Dundee.
  • Mammoths of the Ice Age No. 934 (SN09 CVV) of the 09-registered B9TL / Gemini 2 batch wore a speial allover orange scheme for the Murdo the Mammoth Ice Age exhibition at Edinburgh Museum (running from January to April 2014).
  • 2014 poppy bus - No. 811 (SN56 AGO) of the 56-registered B7TL / Gemini 1 batch received a special allover red livery in November 2014 to commemorate Remembrance Day and in particular the centenary of World War I. It also temporarily wore a large decorative red poppy.
