Film of Growing Microcolony. This film shows 305 min (114 frames) of the growth of a microcolony condensed to 7 s. For the first 40 frames (approximately 3 s), images were taken every 4 min; for the remaining frames, images were taken every 2 min. The complete lineage history of the entire microcolony from the single initial cell in frame 1 to all 505 cells in frame 114 has been tracked and recorded, allowing pole ages to be assigned to every cell.
