"Option" parameterEdit

One difference between Creator templates and Institution templates is that Creator templates always have "Option" parameter used to pass information from the pages in Creator namespace to the actual {{Creator}} template. There was a proposal to improve the control when templates are collapsed or uncollapsed by default. In order to do so we would need to send information from the pages in Institution namespace to the actual {{Institution}} template. In order to do so I am planning to add "| Option = {{{1|}}}" to all the pages in the Institution namespace. --Jarekt (talk) 11:20, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

@Jarekt: Can you please update the documentation page and explain what |Option= does? De728631 (talk) 13:52, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

Subcategory parameterEdit

Where the institution template is used for autocategorisation as in "Category:Images from ...", it would be convenient to have a parameter to add the full or partial name of any desired subcategory of the institution's home category. Otherwise overcategorisation will occur if the individual files are categorised manually as well. The option parameter as implemented by Jarekt can so far only be used to control the collapse status of the template, so I suggest to add an additional |subcat=. Institution template should not be used to add any categories to images, due to potential for overcategorisation. I usually add a category to all the images using such template and remove autocategorisation from the template. --Jarekt (talk) 15:35, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

LocationEdit

Kind of weird to see headquarters location for a nationwide U.S. organization given simply as "location". - Jmabel ! talk 04:11, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Is this just a rant or do you actually want people to have a look at it? Including an example generally makes it possible for people to have a look at it. Multichill (talk) 09:11, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Spook in Category:Institution template home categoriesEdit

Something is going wrong here, the category contains many categories it definitely shouldn't, e.g. Category:Scale model of a 100-gun ship of the line with Nelson's catafalque. Perhaps someone can have a look on it. --Marsupium (talk) 14:58, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

@Marsupium: I don't see that category and a quick skim didn't reveal any obvious mistakes, so I think it's fixed. BMacZero (talk) 04:58, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
Looks like. Thank you! --Marsupium (talk) 08:43, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

Support for multiple concurrent LocationsEdit

Institution:Nasjonalbiblioteket has locations in both Oslo and Mo i Rana, and both are recorded in Wikidata. However, the institution module only displays the most recently added entry (Mo i Rana). This is related to the request to account for End Time qualifiers, currently at the top of this page. BMacZero (talk) 05:01, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

Strong support For many properties only the last value is fetched. It is completely arbitrary which value happens to be the last one. This behavior should be fixed for all of them! It lives in for loops that overwrite previous values with the last one, for this problem e.g. for _, statement in pairs( entity:getBestStatements( prop )) do in Module:Institution's harvest_wikidata() function. It should rather append values to a list and handle that – which of course is more complicated. But current handling is definitely a quite bad situation. --Marsupium (talk) 08:56, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
