subject: Request: Crediting the Huntington Library for public domain works on Wikimedia Commons

Dear Sir,

I am a long term volunteer for Wikimedia Commons, the completely free
and popular repository of images and media that supports Wikipedia
images and other educational projects. We have over 20 million free
images available for the public benefit.

I have been transferring images from the USC digital library, which
holds some collections of scans supported by the Huntington Library
and Art Gallery. I would complete uploads for pre-1923 material
published in the USA which is therefore public domain, including scans
of the Los Angeles Star (1851-1864) [1] and El Clamor Publico [2].

The images would retain all available catalogue metadata and be marked
under a standard Wikimedia Commons public domain US pre-1923 licence
and can have a credit and/or website link back to the Huntington
Library as well as the direct link to the source USC webpage. You can
see a past example upload at [3].

Could you please let me know if there is any particular credit line,
template or website link you would like me to add to fully acknowledge
the Huntington Library and please accept this as a formal request for
permission to republish the images.
