LJ Roscoe (January of 1970 - Present) came to be the first female Chief of Police for the City of Goose Creek, South Carolina on January 18th of 2019. <ref>[1]<ref> Chief Roscoe accepted a position with the City of Goose Creek after serving the citizens of Georgia as a deputy with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office for almost 30 years.<ref>[3]<ref>

Education

Roscoe earned bachelor degrees from Madison University in Mississippi and Columbia Southern University in Alabama.<ref>[1]<ref> Her bachelor degrees were in the fields of law enforcement management and business administration. <ref>[1]<ref> She went on to attain two masters degrees, one being in law enforcement management from Madison University in Mississippi and Organizational Leadership from Waldorf University in Iowa. .<ref>[1]<ref> Chief Roscoe is also a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.<ref>[1]<ref>

Law Enforcement Career

In 1991 Roscoe started her law enforcement career by becoming a detention officer with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.<ref>[2]<ref> She received a promotion in 1994 to the rank of deputy sheriff and continued to promote within the agency while gaining increased responsibilities and being exposed to various agency divisions. <ref>[2]<ref> Roscoe was ultimately promoted to the rank of Major in 2014 when she received her assignment to lead 150 deputies and manage a $12 million budget as the Field Division Commander<ref>[2]<ref> Roscoe retired from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office in January of 2019. <ref>[3]<ref>
