FIAV edit

Hello,

The FIAV is a worldwide organisation for the flag regulation, and they have a color code in purpose to unify the flag colours in which are not specified. They are some flags whose colours are fixed (i.e. the scotland flag law says that its blue is Pantone 300) but the ones who are not specified, should be standarised. --Mutxamel (talk) 04:33, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Do you have any law or something who indicates the exact match colour to be used with Gelderland flag? --Mutxamel (talk) 18:29, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yes, flag do have laws to regulate its colours. Take a look, i.e., at the scottish flag:

in 2003 a committee of the Scottish Parliament met to examine a petition that the Scottish Government adopt the Pantone 300 colour as a standard. (Note that this blue is of a lighter shade than the Pantone 280 of the Union Flag). Having taken advice from a number of sources, including the office of the Lord Lyon King of Arms, the committee recommended that the optimum shade of blue for the Saltire be Pantone 300.

. Or in the spanish flag, which colors are also regulated. If there is no law who regulates the colors of an especific flag, FIAV colours must be used. In fact, the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Vlaggenkunde is federated to the FIAV, and I haven't found any special instructions ahead. I encorage you to write your own country flag experts (NVVV) and tell them about the colors they reccomend for gelderland flag, or search for some law who regulate them. By now, we dont have any official (government) or unofficial (NVVV) recommendation so FIAV colors are likely to be used. --Mutxamel (talk) 22:42, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry but this is not a matter of personal opinions. In Wikipedia, if there is no official color, FIAV colours are the base. There are several thousands of flags on Commons and if we let people to paint their flags wisely, we would have thousands of different yellows, reds... For that, FIAV colors are used by default if there are no references about other colors to be used. The only reference you have is a little 16x16 pixels image, Its not enough. I have argued more than I wanted about this topic, I think its not so hard to understand. I don't speak or understand dutch, but I think I've found some official stuff about the flag. Could you please take it a look? it's called 'Provinciale Staten van Gelderland (15 april 1953): Vaststelling van een vlag voor de provincie Gelderland, Provinciaal Blad van Gelderland , nummer 66.'. I think that's the law who regulates the size, colours and proportions of Gelderland flag. Let's find it out --Mutxamel (talk) 00:09, 28 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

This isn't (the US-centric version of) the English wikipedia, these are the wikimedia commons, Dutch "geel" in flag descriptions isn't the same as FIAV "yellow" (because "orange" is quite a common colour in a country ruled by the house of Orange-Nassau). --129.125.102.126 02:44, 16 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I suggest you read Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case/Abigor, using the "correct channels" got me blocked in the first place. Have a nice life. --129.125.102.126 09:58, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Unless you mean those #NAME channels on IRC. --129.125.102.126 16:31, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
