Source code on image description page edit

If you include it within a <pre>...</pre>, you don't really have to worry about special characters... AnonMoos (talk) 10:00, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sheepish smile. i tried many combinations of pre, code, nowiki, and a space at the beginning of the line and failed to find a neat solution. i guess i did not try all 16 possibilities, since it looks like you're right. Though my guess is that &, < and > will still need to be cleaned. i'll see after saving.
here is some code with a http://url.that.should.not.be.linked.to and something that is {{\bf not a template}}.
another line.

Here is an & symbol.

Some say that 3 < pi<ref>{{web cite|a mathematician}}</ref>.

Now let's try > and & literally.

end of code
Thanks :)

Yes, &, < and > still need to cleaned after downloading. i'm a bit uncomfortable with the idea of encouraging people to download from the command line with "&action=edit" in a URL, even if it apparently will not save an edit, it will only download the source. Boud (talk) 10:22, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, now it seems as though i did have a valid sort-of-valid concern. See "Now ... literally" above in source and rendered form. Boud (talk) 10:55, 13 July 2011 (UTC) Hmmmm.... This is a problem only if the user copy/pastes from the rendered version. Updates of the script would best be done themselves by an obvious extension of the script, or by wget and cutting in an editor, so that's probably OK. Boud (talk) 11:01, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I guess, but that only applies if you include an actual valid ampersand entity (not just a random loose "&" character) in the source. The vast majority of source listings for my files are actually in the PostScript language, where "&" has no special meaning, so I don't have that problem...   -- AnonMoos (talk) 15:46, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Saudi Arabian protests edit

Hello, Boud. I don't think the portraits of Manal al-Shraif have anything to do with Saudi Arabian protests, so they shouldn't be in that category. If we get a photo of her driving, we can have that in there. I will remove the category.--OsamaK 07:45, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Name change edit

Hi! Would you consider requesting a name change for your file File:COVID-19 Outbreak Cases in Poland.svg to File:COVID-19 Pandemic Cases in Poland.svg? As all the articles on pl.wiki already changed their names from outbreak to pandemic, it would standardise the names of the files on Commons. Cheers! Nadzik (talk) 16:35, 13 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Cześć Nadzik! It's nice to ask, though in fact I don't own the file. In principle it's fairer to propose something like that at File talk:COVID-19 Outbreak Cases in Poland.svg, which I've done, and allow a reasonable delay. In the present situation, probably a few hours or so would be reasonable, given the likely number of people interested (small) and the likely number who would consider the move controversial (probably zero). Plot with SARS-CoV-2 infections in and around Poland edit

Hello. I have a small suggestion to plots prepared by you: File:SARS-CoV-2 infections in and around Poland en.svg and File:SARS-CoV-2 infections in and around Poland pl.svg. LI is ISO 3166 code for Liechtenstein. Proper code for Lithuania is LT. Regards, LimaMario (talk) 12:06, 19 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

@LimaMariot: Of course! Thanks for the correction. Boud (talk) 12:45, 19 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thx for new images. You have made an and pl versions ( 2 files). What about translation and Category:Multilingual SVG diagrams? Have a nice day.--Adam majewski (talk) 13:49, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Adam majewski: Thanks for the hint! Next time around I may well use the <switch;gt; mechanism - which seems much better than making individual files. If octave can't handle that, then a sed script would be able to handle that. Boud (talk) 15:01, 13 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request edit

Hi! If you want to suggest something or message me, please do so on my talk page or use {ping} or {re} templates. I spend most of my time on pl.wikipedia, Wikidata or en.wikipedia, so when you write a message about File:COVID-19-pandemic-Poland-timeline.gif on its talk page, I usually do not see it until it is too late.
