Actions have consequences, and you've now experienced same. However, do please feel free to make genuine contributions (pictures and such) as I and many others have done. Otherwise, I bid thee adieu. -Ebyabe 00:13, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

cat's edit

Hello, Ebyabe. I've no idea how to cat my files. Can you help?Mikereichold 03:05, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Signs point to yes. :) Which ones? -Ebyabe 00:15, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tampa Union Station Gallery edit

You've uploaded a large number of photos for Tampa Union Station. Have you considered adding a gallery of them to regular Wikipedia? Contact me here about this, because I've been blocked on regular wikipedia until tomorrow. ----DanTD 13:50, 20 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Did my usual, just created a gallery here and added a link to it in the Wikipedia article. That's a bummer about the block, but at least it's only for a day. I avoid the risk of even appearing to edit-war. If I'm getting close, I just stop, breath, report it at WP/ANI and let go. Safer that way, doncha know. Anyhoo, anything else, just drop me a line. :) --Ebyabe 18:36, 20 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good, and I just added some images to both today. Ah, well. When I'm un-blocked I'll create a gallery for Orlando's Amtrak station, or at least I'll try. It'll be small, but I'll add more in the future, and hope other users are willing to do so as well. ----DanTD 00:29, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

More galleries edit

I just want you to know, I've created separate galleries for Chipley and Crestview Amtrak stations. The one I made for Orlando is already up. I wouldn't mind adding that one of the Silver Star entering Orlando Station that's owned by SPUI, but despite the fact that he's gone, it's owned by SPUI. ----DanTD 16:42, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Add it. People put their pics here so they'll be used, so go for it. I don't think most of the pics here are "owned" by their creators anymore, per se. That's what the whole GFDL thing is all about. --Ebyabe 22:10, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nice on making the galleries, btw. I usually don't make ones with less than five photos, but that's not a rule, jsut personal preference. Keep up the good work! :) --Ebyabe 22:13, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Seminole Rest and Turtle Mound edit

It just made sense to me to put the Seminole Rest pics into their own category. I had wanted to include them in Category:Canaveral National Seashore, and it was just much more straightforward to attach them as a subcat than as a bunch of single images.

When I was in Orlando for a conference last year, I took a couple days to explore Canaveral National Seashore. I wasn't having the best of times - I'm not really a beach person, and the lagoon/marsh side of the park was just too hot, humid, buggy, and spidery for my oh-so-delicate Pacific Northwest sensibilities :-). (Some would suggest that's what I get for visiting Florida in the summer...) So when I unexpectedly stumbled across Turtle Mound (and Seminole Rest), I found it to be quite a pleasant surprise. The NPS has provided a convenient pullout from A1A, with a short trail and then some boardwalks onto the mound itself. There's a platform at the summit of the mound that provides some nice views. Because the mound is so heavily overgrown with vegetation, it's really hard to get good large-scale photos of it - especially if you're trying to convey its historic nature. Which is why the picture I uploaded is basically just the ground a foot or two off of the boardwalk. The oyster shells are visible everywhere along the boardwalk, and it should be pretty easy to get a more compelling shot than mine - I was running low on time to get back to Orlando. For a large-scale shot, a bit of exploring should get you a spot on the beach dunes or across the lagoon or somewhere where you could get a clear view of the mound. But it's still just going to look like a forested hill, rather than the historic treasure it is. But go! Wikipix or not, it's definitely worth a visit. Werewombat (talk) 04:01, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the info. I like to do my photo roadtrips in the fall and winter for that reason. Also clearer skies (I like blue sky backdrops). But I am planning to get that section of the east coast soon, cuz it's so close to me (I live in Marion County). I want to get to Turtle Mound after sunrise, then head north, hopefully getting as far as Ormond Beach. If you ever make another visit here, drop me a line, and I can point you towards some interesting alternatives to the typical tourist-ey stuff. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 23:31, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

AWB edit

Hello Ebyabe, would you be so kind to slightly decrease your edit rate or otherwise ask for a bot flag in a separate account to edit so fast? I'm afraid you're slightly flooding RecentChanges. Thank you for your understanding :). Patrícia msg 22:07, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow, I didn't know that was possible! I'll slow down, and I'm taking a break soon too. Don't wanna break anything... :) --Ebyabe (talk) 22:11, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Btw, how does one request a bot flag? There's about a hundred photos I'd like to recat from Category:Houses in Florida to Category:Houses in Walton County, Florida. A bot would be better. I just don't think of that, I dunno why. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 22:16, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your reply! If it's a one-time thing, you can ask someone else to do the recat at Commons:Bots/Requests. You can run a bot unflagged on Commons as long as the edit rate is not very high, but if in the long run you prefer to have a bot flag, Commons:Bots/Requests for flags is the place to go. More fun stuff to read at Commons:Bots ;). Cheers, Patrícia msg 22:20, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ybor edit

Hi. Thanks for your message and all your great uploads. I recently visited Tampa and have been uploading some photos. I created Category:Ybor City before I noticed the existing Category:Ybor City Historic District. I'm sure at least SOME of the images currently in the former belong in the latter, but as I don't know the Historic District boundaries I'm not sure which. I didn't notice anything helpful at the en:Wikipedia Ybor City article. Suggestions? Thank you, -- Infrogmation (talk) 00:57, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Maybe you'll have gotten photos of places I've not got yet, I hope, I hope. I'm trying to get shots of all the NRHPs in Florida. I keep track of it with this list. Oh, as far as Ybor City, you might want to leave a message with Zeng8r. He's rather the expert, and is even working on a book about Tampa's history.
Oh wait, I discovered this useful pdf file. But you should prolly drop a line to Zeng8r, 'cause he'll likely be able to give you more info. Cheers! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 15:02, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Ocala edit

I don't live near Ocala. I was actually just passing through on my way home from New York that day, and last year. I actually live in Spring Hill, Florida, which reminds me that I have to take some pictures of a few towns in Hernando County this month. ----DanTD (talk) 17:52, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, but you were driving thru just a stone's throw away, doncha know. I was going to take some photos this weekend, but conditions aren't up to my ideals. So I'm finally uploading the 200 odd photos I took a few weeks ago. Hope you're staying dry, and be safe. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 17:55, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Btw, do you know where Werner-Boyce is? I tried to get photos last October, but couldn't find it. If you could get some more pictures of it, that'd be loverly. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 18:00, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Apalachicola National Forest edit

Hi John, I wanted to ask if you have any photos of w:Apalachicola National Forest? There was a nearly empty companion page sitting on Wikitravel for the longest time. Another user marked it for deletion, so that created a sense of urgency for me to work on it. I found some public domain text from US Park Service. Still need some photos, if you can find any? Thanks. Gamweb (talk) 13:31, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't have any, unfortunately. There are a few, though, in Category:Apalachicola National Forest. --Ebyabe (talk) 23:37, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
