Recent adding of significant event (P793)

Is this automated? What are your criteria? Adding that for example Men's handball Austria - Switzerland 2015-01-06 is a significant event for the flag files of Austria, Switzerland and Slovakia, makes no sense. TFerenczy (talk) 19:59, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

I am marking files by hand and using SDC making edits. I am sorry, I didn`t spot that on Category:Ice Hockey AUT vs. HUN 2016-04-16 and similar SDC marked also this file. I will revert this changes and will proactivly look for such errors in the future. PMG (talk) 20:03, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

SDC edits

Hello PMG, which tool do you actually use to make your SDC edits? The background is that I want to filter these out in my watch list. On the one hand, I don't have to check your edits, but on the other hand, I simply can't use my watch list anymore when, like recently several times, some thousand edits from you appear there at once. ;-) Stepro (talk) 19:22, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

It`s slightly modified SDC (for example I combined many steps into one, to limit number of clicks that I am doing, removed from drop-down all options except one, so there is no chance to make error). I am just good at operating on many tabs. What is important - all edits are triggered by my hands so in my opinion they are not "bot edits". On other projects I would request for "flood flag" but my try to get such flag on Commons failed - Commons:Bureaucrats'_noticeboard/Archive_2023#Request_for_flood_flag_for_User:PMG. I don`t know how to filter out my edits. PMG (talk) 19:39, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Stepro - maybe we can do this in different way. What exactly categories do you have files? Currently I am editing football matches. Maybe for one day I can focus on your categories, so you will have for one day very bad day, but later you will be much easier? PMG (talk) 19:49, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm afraid my categories are too broad thematically for such an action. ;-)
My thought was that I could filter the watch list using the tags, like e.g. “#not Depictor” or “#not Fist”. Stepro (talk) 20:04, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

SDC edit on Barnsley Interchange - geograph.org.uk - 2846293.jpg

Dear PMG,

What basis or properties do you use to perform your SDC edits ? Is it image title, categories, geo-coordinates or a combination ?

I have to revert your edit to File:Barnsley Interchange - geograph.org.uk - 2846293.jpg since your SDC statement station Bank Hall is just way off here. Both the embedded geodata and the image itself place the subject into Barnsley Interchange station.

Just wanted you to give a heads-up in case you wonder why this edit was being reverted.

Btrs (talk) 14:23, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Btrs thank you very much for this information. I was manually copying QXXX and made mistake. I reverted all incorrect edits in SDC and put correct information. PMG (talk) 11:41, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

P1071

Hi PMG, I have strong doubts that the Wikidata property Property:P1071 is correct for photos of soccer players. They were probably not all "made" in this stadium. ;-) In my opinion, the property Property:P8546 should be used.

Hey. Sorry. Thats ... that is a lot of stadiums to fix. Do you have any idea how to fix it in automated way? PMG (talk) 15:42, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, but unlike you, I'm not familiar with mass edits. Stepro (talk) 16:24, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!

2022 Picture of the Year: Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) and Gadwall (Mareca strepera) in Nepal.

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Deuren_en_balkon_Muizenneus.jpg&diff=prev&oldid=950017100 Hi! please take a look at Commons:Structured data/Modeling/Location#Properties not to use. it says location of creation (P1071) should be used instead of recording location (P8546). RoyZuo (talk) 14:25, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@RoyZuo - Thank you for link. I will change my settings.
@Stepro - do you remember our talk? Seems that I was correct (by accident) :) PMG (talk) 18:29, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Vallisaari as part of Suomenlinna

Hi, I will revert the additions of P180=Suomenlinna to Vallisaari photos because island doesn't belong to Suomenlinna Unesco cultural heritage site main area. Vallisaari is part of Unesco cultural heritage site buffer zone and part of Suomenlinna neighbourhood though (pdf map). This was just explanation why I am reverting the edits before I am doing it. --Zache (talk) 12:28, 2 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Zache - ok, no problem. Thank you for information. PMG (talk) 12:37, 2 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
