"In future, don't pull these antics"

edit

Why on earth did you do that? There was a contrary view expressed, and reinstating an FPX template when it has already been removed by a support !vote, is not ok. --Benchat 10:07, 7 October 2007 (UTC) Really? Look, everyone else is oppose.... --Beyond silence   07:33, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for helping me with the FPC closing process. Just wanted to say that you have done everything right. --Simonizer 08:11, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not really used to Commons : can you explain me how featured pictures work ? For instance, for Commons:Featured picture candidates/Image:Roue Tuileries Paris.jpg : there are 3 personns OK and one neutral and the picture is not featured because - you said - it didn't reach a consensus. I dont't understand what you call a consensus (since nobody voted "against" : isn't it a consensus ?). Kindly yours, Remi Mathis 12:31, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, thank you. Next time, I will bring my whip with me, while asking people to come and vote. Best regards, Remi Mathis 15:25, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

About Image:Old Jew in Warsaw Ghetto.jpg

edit

You were asking about Image:Old Jew in Warsaw Ghetto.jpg image. It is part of my father's collection of WWII prints, I am slowly adding to Commons (see Jarekt 13:18, 9 October 2007 (UTC)). This particular image my father found by accident, as a history PhD student with no money he was participating in local recycling center program, where you can take all the books you want from the center in exchange for twice the weight in paper you bring. That how he got some of his best books, and he also found some pictures including this. Jarekt 13:18, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your nice vote :) Did you knew that the   Strong support template doesnt count? There is a workaround, just place a   after the   Support template. :) --Richard Bartz 13:32, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Flickr Review

edit

Thanks for reviewing the images I have uploaded to Flickr :). Is there a way to get approval so I can self-review images myself? I am an editor on the English Wikipedia and know about the various image licenses. Thanks! Hdtcommons83 05:16, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message. I assumed these pictures were free to use since they were both associated to a CC-BY licence on Flickr. But I guess I wasn't prudent enough! Sorry! Very sorry! --TwoWings (jraf) * Wanna talk? ;-) 07:02, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well I just cropped out the website link because the pictures would look better without it and a CC-BY licence allows that (doesn't it?). It's not a personal purpose of defraud or something like that. I was just assuming the owner of the website was the same person as the Flickr uploader (and supposedly author) of the pictures. But I have to admit I was far too naive! Again: sorry for that. --TwoWings (jraf) * Wanna talk? ;-) 07:21, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey, you stole my review! :p Giggy\Talk 07:09, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Eek, I'm scared. Shame virtually all the images have no source - it took me forever just to find one... Giggy\Talk 07:16, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I supported your RfA, and I don't plan on running anytime soon. *shrugs* :) Giggy\Talk 07:21, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Note

edit

Hello, {{{{subst:BASEPAGENAME}}}}, and thanks for your contributions to the Wikimedia Commons! I have noticed that you're using the {{user trusted}} (or the babel alternative) template on your [[User talk:{{{{subst:BASEPAGENAME}}}}|user page]]. This template is generally reserved for users that review Flickr images and are trusted users. It is easy to apply and become trusted in order to review images from Flickr, and I welcome you to do so if you are interested in helping out. Please feel free to discuss any concerns on my talk page. Cheers, --Pumpmeup

Image you failed due to personality rights

edit

Image:Mack Brown Texas Horns up2.jpg - the person depicted in this photo is a famous person and they were photographed with their knowledge in a public place. There should be absolutely no concern of "personality rights" with this image. Please reconsider the tag or tell me what further information is required to keep this image. Johntex 15:25, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much, Pumpmeup. It was definitely a public place. I cropped out another person (a non-famous fan). You can see the original image here on Flickr. The occasion was the "Mack Brown Women's Football Clinic", which is held annually by The University of Texas at Austin. If you check that flickr photostream, you will see other similar poses, and more people. Finally, here is an advertisement (PDF) for the 2002 version of the same event. Flickr review of Image:Torchwood-Wales Millennium Centre.jpg

edit

Unless the Flickr user changed the licence of this image in the last couple of days, it looks like you incorrectly marked the {{Cc-by-2.0}}-tagging of this image as correct, when in fact it should have been {{Cc-by-sa-2.0}}. Please take care to verify not only that the Flickr image has a licence which is compatible with Commons, but also that it is tagged with the correct licence here. Suggestion

edit

Hello. I hope you were not too discouraged by the failed RfA. For your next attempt, I suggest that you refrain from answering all voters. It gives a bickering feeling, as if you want the adminship more than anything regardless of whether it would be a benefit for Commons.

Another thing: it gives a good impression to others if you just follow these simple guidelines

  1. work dedicated and cooly with whatever your area of interest is
  2. be friendly and helpful
  3. do not over-react when under pressure

And then, adminship would only seem natural...

With kind regards,

Categorising

edit

Hello Pumpmeup! I hope it's not rude to ask you to categorise your Commons uploads a little more? (I catted a few NZ pictures of yours). Would be great if you could have a look at your older uploads and at least sort them into very generic cats - if a NZ picture isn't even in Category:New Zealand, other people can't sort them for you either. Burn pictures

edit

This is a bit off topic but I just wanted to say that your burn pictures are stomach-wrenchingly awesome. Also, you have a cute kitty. ColbyWolf 68.159.191.205 10:57, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hi Pumpmeup,

I wonder if it would be possible for you to provide me with the original source of two of your pictures - infected burns, links below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Legburn.JPG

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Legburn1.JPG

I am interested in reproducing the images and need to ensure that I am not breaking any copyright restrictions in doing so.

I can be contacted on carrie.robinson@meditechmedia.com.

Kind regards,

Carrie

Wiki-en needs a pic!

edit

Hi, found you from reviewing the John Mahoney Flickr pic. If you're not busy one day could find wiki-en a John C. McGinley picture? We have users continuing to add non-fair use pics to the article. Any help appreciated! Scarian 17:13, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

deprecated function in your monobook.js

edit

Dear user, I noticed that you use the includePage function in your monobook.js page.

This function is now obsolete, as the importScript function was introduced with rev:35064 to the MediaWiki Javascript core library wikibits.js. It also keeps track of already imported files.

To allow us to remove includePage from Mediawiki:Common.js I'd kindly ask you to replace its use with importScript (same syntax!). Thanks! --Dschwen 17:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notice of namespace-rename "Image" -> "File"

edit

Dear user, the MediaWiki developers recently announced that the "Image:" namespace is going to be renamed to "File:". "Image:" will remain an alias. The canonical namespace name wgCanonicalNamespace will change from "Image" to "File".

I noticed that you use wgCanonicalNamespace in either your monobook.js page or a JavaScript file in your userspace (check this list).

Please check and replace all occurrences of

wgCanonicalNamespace == "Image"

with

wgNamespaceNumber == 6

to ensure that your scripts keep working. Thanks! --Dschwen (talk) 18:41, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
