Created categories edit

Hi Rushenb,
I really like your photos, videos and also your audio recording. I created a few categories just for you. You can find them at Category:Files of Thailand by User:Rushenb. Could you in future, besides placing your uploaded files in to one of the regular categories, also place them into one of these categories that I have just created? Photos into "Images of...", videos into "Videos of..." and all else into "Files of...". This will ensure that your files are easily accessible for others.
Regards, Takeaway (talk) 20:23, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi again. I introduced an additional layer to the above user categories because I discovered that one of your photos was actually made in Sweden. The new category for files that are not from Thailand is Category:Files by User:Rushenb. It might seem that I am stalking your edits (which in a way is a bit true) but that is because, as I already mentioned above, I really like your uploads, and it would seem that you have a slight problem sometimes in getting your files correctly categorised. It is mainly because of the latter that I monitor your uploads, and categorise them where needed. Many thanks for the images, videos and audio recordings, Regards Takeaway (talk) 14:01, 6 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi there.. First time I am using "talk" style messaging as I wasn't sure before where to reply, here in my profile or at yours. :) Thanks for your comments about my photos and thanks for correcting my categories. Now that you say, I will go through my files and see the amends you have made to categories so I can try mimic that for future uploads. Regards, 6 October 2014
Because categories sometimes change, it's best to check once in a while. An easy way to keep track of all changes to your files, is to, if you already haven't done so, to click on the "watch" button for each of your files. All changes will show up on your watchlist. Cheers! - Takeaway (talk) 19:34, 6 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

That DR edit

Hope you weren't offended (through you didn't come across that way). I gather now that several people know you (and now I do), it just was not apparent from what I could see that it wasn't potentially a case of someone flickrwashing. I'm very glad it's not... your photos are very good. Sorry for the misunderstanding, and thanks for the awesome images. :) Revent (talk) 22:56, 7 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

No, not at all. It is your job to follow up with the quality, but also from a legal perspective to make sure licenses are appropriate! I have a bit break with photography due to broken lenses, but it will be more photography contributions rest of my life I can assure. Cheers,

Spider photo edit

Hi, I assume you took the photo at File:Haplopelma lividum, Cobalt blue tarantula.jpg. Nice photo, but how was the spider identified? The usually reliable World Spider Catalog says it only occurs in Myanmar. Peter coxhead (talk) 21:01, 6 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. The location where I found it is a national park, the spot is nearly 40 km from Myanmars border in Phetchaburi Province of Thailand. The forest there is part of Western Forex Complex which is a continuous complex on both sides of the border covering over 18,000 sqkm. I posted the photo to a closed facebook group I am member of, called siamensig.org (there is a website with the same name). One of regular commentators there I know identified the species as Haplopelma lividum. Another friend of mine, mainly herper, too identified this species same. Googled a bit, I see many websites mention it is found in Thailand too; site #1, site #2, site #3, #4, #5. I can't find any scientific paper on this (about Thai locality), there is a potential one on a website which I don't want to pay for. -- Rushen (talk) 21:01, 6 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
It all seems very likely to be correct. I do have access to some scientific journals through my academic institution, so I'll do a search myself. Peter coxhead (talk) 13:50, 8 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Ah, this paper has a map on p. 16 showing H. lividum occurring along the Myanmar/Thai border. I'll add this information to the Wikipedia article. Peter coxhead (talk) 14:06, 8 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Very glad to hear that. I wouldn't get disappointed if you dismissed this, I understand the importance of scientific evidence :) -- Rushen (talk) 21:23, 8 June 2016 (UTC+07:00)
Let me correct my opening remark: it's not a "nice photo", it's a fantastic photo. I've created a cropped version that looks better at the small size normal for a taxobox (see File:Haplopelma lividum, Cobalt blue tarantula cropped.jpg. Peter coxhead (talk) 17:17, 8 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Lol, thanks! -- Rushen (talk) 01:12, 9 June 2016 (UTC+07:00)

Duplicates :-) edit

I found two duplicates after I started uploading your pictures from Flickr and therefore I found you. First if all thanks for all the great photos, even only recently discovered species: Category:Sylvirana malayana. Do you mind if I carry on with uploading from Flickr, as there are still 167 ready for transfer. Anyway in case you are not yet aware you have another category: Category:Photographs by Rushen Agathoclea (talk) 21:20, 25 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Another duplicate upload of mine raises a question of naming. File:Chalcorana eschatia - Khao Sok National Park (11217426324) by Rushen.jpg is a duplicate of File:Hylarana eschatia-Khao Sok National Park.jpg. That raises the question if the remaining two in the Category:Chalcorana eschatia should also be named as Hylarana eschatia Agathoclea (talk) 08:10, 26 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi there! Well, I always publish my photos on Flickr, and sometimes if I have a bit of time also to Wikipedia. I now see it can be problem if others finds my photos on Flickr and uploads to Wikipedia (Wikimedia Commons). You are of course completely fine to upload my photos from Flickr, that's the point of me publishing them under CC license.. :)
It is big mess with species, they get split up and named differently. This means I sometimes go back to my Flickr account and update with new species name. So, if somebody goes and searches species with their new name, finds my photos where the name has recently been updated and upload to Wikipedia, it may end up with duplicates under different names. That is the case with Hylarana eschatia -> Chalcorana eschatia.. It lately changed genus.. :)
There are bunch of other species that I uploaded which got genus/species name changed. Like Trimeresurus fucatus, it is nowadays downgraded to a subspecies of Trimeresurus sabahi, called T. s. fucatus. See this photo here; File:Trimeresurus_fucatus,_Banded_pit_viper.jpg. So, if you go to my Flickr profile, there you will see under the new name; [https://www.flickr.com/photos/rushen/29008775554/in/photolist-2eaFxhb-LcpyjE]. See the proof here; [http://reptile-database.reptarium.cz/species?genus=Trimeresurus&species=sabahi] (Synonyms; "Popeia fucatus — WALLACH et al. 2014: 575", "Popeia fucatus — CHAN-ARD et al. 2015: 291", "Trimeresurus sabahi fucatus — MULCAHY et al. 2017").. Basically, the downgrade happened last year and accepted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rushenb (talk • contribs) 10:32, 26 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Ok. I will carry on after I cleaned up the mess I just produced. So if there is a discrepancy between Flickr and here, the names in Flickr are the correct ones. That is something I can work with. Thanks. Agathoclea (talk) 12:04, 26 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
