Design, purpose edit

Started at Commons_talk:Requests_for_comment/galleries#Confused

"discussions on policies, guidelines or other matters that have a wide impact and on which a broad consensus is needed" is stated on Commons:Centralized discussion.

Maybe the design of {{Cent}} is not as good(?) as de:Vorlage:Beteiligen? Only the first line (Meinungsbilder) and in the last (Stewardwahlen) is important - the remaining is not really. One may participate but would not miss to "cast his vote" (kind of) if he does not. Once the RFCs were translated with "Meinungsbilder" (in cent) - but apparently they are more like de:WP:PRD (long term discussions).

So I feel that cent does not really fit it's purpose if such unfinished discussions like Commons:Requests_for_comment/galleries are advertised. There is no proposal, no vote, just gathering opinions of the people who participate and nothing will be decided soon. Due to the way the cent template is designed (lightwight, small) there is not much room for some kind of classification. Just maybe some kind of icon could be used. just after the "*". Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 03:09, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I've decided to have a wikibreak due to RL work pressures. I'll come back to this in due course - I've added it to my todo list. Rd232 (talk) 16:47, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
No, problem. Best wishes! --Saibo (Δ) 17:40, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
...well, some of them are more like long-term discussions, others are more concrete proposals that need wider coverage (like whether COM:REVDEL should be policy). I'm not quite sure what you're suggesting, other than using icons. Rd232 (talk) 05:16, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

What about using some icons like {{Info| }}   (example for more or less "info" messages, if they should be here) right after the bullet point? --Saibo (Δ) 17:40, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I like icons (COM:ICON...), so if we can find some suitable ones, sure. Rd232 (talk) 05:16, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

RFC concerning naming of Palestine and Palestinian territories edit

{{Edit protected}} Can an admin please add a link to Template:Centralized discussion for this discussion:

Thanks! --Timeshifter (talk) 01:59, 19 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Elsewhere edit

The nutshell description says: "Announcements and local or topic specific discussions are usually not appropriate for this template." Where should these other things go? Probably should say, so readers aren't left with no idea where else to try. - dcljr (talk) 08:22, 7 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edit request edit

I've just started Commons:Requests for comment/Hosting files for 3D models. Can it be listed here? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 06:51, 28 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, nobody saw that here, but your RFC will get its 30 days.  The cent stuff is all manual DIY, the inventor is listed on COM:MISS. Be..anyone (talk) 23:10, 2 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Images of all subcategories of a given category edit

Hi, I would to see all the images of Category:Mythological paintings. By this, I mean also the images of subcategories. I can't find how to do it. How can I do?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.231.103.102 (talk • contribs)

Hi, that's the talk page for the design of Commons:Centralized discussion, so we're wrong here. For general questions check out the Commons:Help desk. There are subcategories in Category:Mythological paintings, you have to visit them (click on it) to see them. –Be..anyone (talk) 22:53, 2 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Fossil categories edit

After a recent discussion, all fossil categories will not be moved per[1], so please do not revert out of confusion, as some have already done. FunkMonk (talk) 19:37, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Add RFC for Template talk:Motd/Months#RFC: Accessibility improvements edit

{{Edit request}} Please add the before mentioned RFC to the list. 2001:2003:54FA:2751:0:0:0:1 11:03, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

{{Edit request}} Please add the before mentioned RFC to the list. This can be titled "RFC: Hosting local copies of LGPL/GPL/AGPL license texts on Commons". 2001:2003:54FA:2751:0:0:0:1 05:14, 15 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Not done. I don't think we need an RFC for this. Please create and format the license text pages, then I can protect them. Guanaco (talk) 13:57, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Guanaco: : I didn't understand the second bit at all beyond first opinion. Create what page? Protect what, why? 2001:2003:54FA:2751:0:0:0:1 05:36, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Image size ratio edit

I'd like that every page for an image list the size ratio of the image along with its actual resolution. E.g. if an image is 800x600 pixels, the description will list a ratio of 1.33:1.

(800 × 600 pixels (1.33:1), file size: 8.85 MB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

This could be useful for editors using multiple image templates and such. Kurzon (talk) 11:13, 24 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Kurzon: This looks like a feature request for the Mediawiki software, so I suggest you add it like a bug report by following mw:How to report a bug. It would also apply to video. Live long and prosper.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 13:43, 24 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Adding RFC to box - edit request edit

{{Edit request}} Could someone add Commons_talk:Rollback#"When_to_use_Rollback"_RFC to the box please, many thanks, –Davey2010Talk 11:37, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Why don't you add it to Template:Centralized discussion yourself? 4nn1l2 (talk) 12:28, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Because I've never worked with LangSwitch and so was afraid of messing things up, Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 15:15, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I think I should have put more time into phrasing my sentence. 4nn1l2 (talk) 15:27, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hey 4nn1l2, My sincere apologies for the previous comment, No worries, Happy editing :), –Davey2010Talk 16:03, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Davey2010:   Done in this edit, which you could have made yourself.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 13:58, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Jeff G. I don't work with the whole langswwitch stuff and therefore was afraid of messing everything up so as such I felt it was wise to leave it to someone more competent than myself. Cheers. –Davey2010Talk 15:15, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
