Reason | A pseudo-peloria is a giant flower reported occurring in Digitalis purpurea ([1] and [2]), and Digitalis lanata ([3] and [4]) (Scrophulariacea). Here we have Eucomis comosa (family Hyacinthaceae), in which, as far as I know, pseudo-peloria are not described hitherto. The picture shows the pseudo-peloria after flowering with a duplication of the organs: 12 stamina, 11 sepals (only 11, as two sepals are grown together as it is indicated by the fact that this one bears two stamina), and two female organs. -- Llez (talk) |
