Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

File transfers

Hi, I have undone your today transfer batch, because you are flooding our maintenance categories. All files of this batch appeared in more than one problem category. Please do proper after care when you do file transfers, or, if you don't want to do proper after care, do not transfer them in the first place. Jcb (talk) 21:39, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

Hey, what a really nice move! it took me a lot of hours to transfer that files, you could've warn me first instead of blatantly deleting all of it, i could've fix it. I was already under pressure from the Indonesian Wikipedia Administrator to transfer all of my files so other Wikis can use my work. Now i can't even re-transfer the files you've deleted. Could you even give me some guidance or proper help to manage transfered files here at commons? because the Indonesian Wikipedia Administrator keep urging me to complete the file transfers immediately. I am hoping for your quick response, and once again i do not appreciate you deleting my files, to some extent i see it as an abuse of power you have. Thank you! The community has firmly disapproved transfers from Wikipedia to Commons without proper after care, because those batches are frustrating our maintenance significantly. In some extreme cases we have even blocked users for that. (I don't consider you such an extreme case at this stage, don't worry). I can assist in the undeletion of the files, to give you the opportunity to fix them, but I have one question first. You uploaded a lot of maps with an own work claim, but apparently they are derivative work rather than own work. Can you tell me more about the source of the base maps? Thanks for your response, first of all i would like to apologize for my actions of tranfering files to commons without proper care, i wasn't aware of the impact to the commons' maintenance until now.
Secondly, i need your help so i can transfer the files appropriately according to the Commons' guidelines. To answer your question, the source of the base maps i created are various, ranging from websites to even some actual researches. Most of the websites i used are owned by Indonesian Government, such as Statistics Indonesia/Statistics Indonesia's website where they published booklet full of information (including maps) for each region in Indonesia. I also got base maps from Indonesian ministry of Public Works where they also published maps. And in addition, i usually checked websites of each region to support validity of the maps. whereas actual researches, sometimes i go to the government offices to ask informations about the region's map (which is why i only concentrate on doing North Sumatra maps, hence i live here. And because of my work requires me to go to certain places in North Sumatra, in which i also took that time to get informations of maps i am making. And also taking pictures of scenery across North Sumatra, if you noticed my other works here in commons). I admit that my maps are somewhat falls into category of Commons:Derivative works rather than purely my own work, which is why i am asking you to enlighten me what is the proper way to publish it here in commons. I have read the explanations about maps, but here i am asking you specifically to guide me regarding the issue of my maps, so i may not stumble again to this issue.
And lastly, i would like to ask again, why you deleted my other pictures (pictures of churches in North Sumatra) that i personally took. I acknowledge the reason that you deleted it is because of careless transfers, just like my maps. This deletion got me puzzled because i did not even transfer them in the first place, i uploaded them straight to Commons via Upload Wizard. Please kindly review them again, if you're not mistaken. I selected the files based on generated error messages, so that each deleted file has at least syntax errors or missing source/authorship information or both. I will undelete the files, but they will have to be checked one by one. Please make sure the files have no empty source or author field and no error messages. For all the maps, please provide the source of the base map, so that we can judge whether the base map is free. If the source map is copyrighted, your derivative work cannot stay. I have restored the files. Please take a look at Category:Images without source and you will understand why this is frustrating for the people who spend many hours to handle such a backlog, only to see the problem category being flooded again by batch transfers without after care.
