Hi. Even if the Google Operating System Blog was official Google’s blog, it might still not mean that the images posted there are under CC BY. And it “is not affiliated with Google™” at all. So there is no reason for it to be under that license at that source page (and there is no logo itself?). --AVRS (talk) 19:29, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I could not find and logo on it's own so I edited that image. The is a License for that image (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/) Isn't that enough license? No: if you edit a free image (especially one derived from the non-free one) and get a copy of a non-free image, that copy is still non-free. --AVRS (talk) 11:53, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
