Thomas Sowell photo license edit

Hi, can you prove the CC-BY-SA license for File:Tomas sowell profile picture.jpg...? The description seems very doubtful to me.

  • You wrote the image comes from T.Sowell's home page. However someone's home page is someone's work so it is copyrighted. That means you can't just copy the image if it is not explicitly allowed in the homepage – and I can't see anything like that there. There's no CC-* license, neither for the image nor for the page as a whole.
  • You also wrote T.Sowell is an author of the image. I seriously doubt it – it looks like a professional photo, carefully posed and illuminated. Of course the person depicted might arrange the scene and take the photo with a self-timer, but it seems unlikely. Anyway the page does not state the author name, so your claim about the author seems unjustified.
Perhaps you have some knowledge from other, undocumented sources...?
  • It also seems very strange that the image date you gave (10 Jan 2016) is just one day before the upload date (11 Jan 2016).
Has T.Sowell taken the picture of himself and put it into his homepage just one day before you copied it into Wikimedia Commons? How did he know you need it...?!

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution.
