Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
  • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
  • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
  • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
  • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
  • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Overview of Gun Laws by Nation edit

Hi, I recently discovered the map you made for this page and greatly appreciate your contributions. However, if at any point you further decide to fill in the map I suggest coloring both New Zealand and Australia in green. In comparison to some other countries which are considered shall-issue, they both fit that category, as you do not need to provide any evidence for your need to own a firearm, but instead simply have to request a Category A & B license and fill out the necessary documents, similar to countries such as Germany and Serbia, which are both classified in the category of shall-issue. I do hope to see more countries in the grey area to receive their respective classifications in the future. The2016 (talk) 09:24, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

This map is based on wikipedia article (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_of_gun_laws_by_nation - private citizens column) so it should be first changed there Borysk5 (talk) 09:31, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Laws concerning gender identity-expression by country or territory.svg edit

The Australian state of Victoria just changed its law as of 1 May 2020 to allow a person to self declare their gender on their birth certificate. Hence it should be coloured purple now rather than pink. Thanks! Agent Win (talk) 04:05, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Map of age of criminal responsibility edit

Hello,

you made and uploaded the map of the age for criminal responsibility here and now it needs to be updated: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/41/Criminal_age.svg. California should be dark red because the law as it was seen to be does not set a minimum age for criminal responsibility for the few crimes that do not require the age of 12 years. Many countries are falsely colored in comparison to the table and the information of the latter seems largely trustworthy but some information for the general age is missing and I'm not sure that all recent changes of legislation on this subject were included. HeliosX (talk) 18:12, 22 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I updated map to be consistent with wikipedia table and changed California. Borysk5 (talk) 10:10, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello,
thank you but San Marino, the regions of Scotland and the Faroe Islands, Egypt, Greece, Cape Verde, Singapore, Fiji, Palau, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Antigua and Barbuda still needed to be colored for the first time, from gray, or changed in color. Please review the entire United States, including uncolored Hawaii, according to this reference website about the age of criminal responsibility. The information on that site was last updated in January 2020. HeliosX (talk) 22:30, 21 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I changed US states to match with this map and also countries you mentioned (didnt know how to change Scotland because UK is one object in this file). Didnt change Singapore though because source clearly says the age is 7 and increase was only proposed. You should give a source for every change you make on wikipedia. Borysk5 (talk) 08:54, 22 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Please also change Singapore, the Faroe Islands and San Marino as I added sources for that by now. Can't the United Kingdom be split up on the map because the same was done for the United States? Please also extend the color area of Greece on the map to include all Greek islands that currently are missing. Why is Kosovo not part of the map if I can ask? HeliosX (talk) 18:12, 22 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think I should be done now. You're welcome. In the future always remember to source contributions you make on wikipedia. Borysk5 (talk) 19:16, 22 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Map update edit

Hi, can you please update File:Incest legislation.svg?

The map currently has Ireland coloured red indicating "Up to life imprisonment", however, according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_incest the penalty is "Up to 10 years in prison (male and female)". This is cited further down in the main text of the page as the law having been updated in 2019. Therefore, Ireland should be coloured orange to denote "Illegal (prison sentence)", instead of red. Gender identity map edit

Hi, I was wondering if you could please make a change/addition to File:Laws concerning gender identity-expression by country or territory.svg?

I'm not sure how to explain it exactly but when the map is clicked on once on the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_social_movements#21st_century it shows what the purple, red and grey colours denote on the map, but not what the pink indicates. If a user then clicks on the more details tab in the bottom right-hand corner and goes to the Wikimedia Commons page it describes in the summary section under the map which colour means what. However, most users are only going to click on the image once and not understand what the pink represents but are given the other colours. So, can you please add what the pink indicates on the map in the short description under the image? Helper201 (talk) 19:50, 12 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I added color description to wikipedia page. Borysk5 (talk) 20:33, 12 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

trying to edit organ donors map (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organ_donation#/media/File:Donation_policy.svg) edit

Hi,

Given https://www.government.nl/topics/organ-tissue-donation/new-donor-act-active-donor-registration, I was trying to edit the organ donors map but I couldn't make any of it work correctly:

- text editor: change of colour do not show up on Wikipedia but do on my PC

- inkscape: warped image

I uploaded the text editor version but I am still not sure this will work out. Would you mind telling me how you did it with Inkscape I assume?

Seems like now this file is working. Yes, I edited this with Inkscape. The problem with second version was probably that you changed file size, you should "Resize page to drawing" if it's to small. Borysk5 (talk) 11:45, 6 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the insight. I also found out that Switzerland should be blue (see here). I made the change and added that link in the description of my image submit. File:Legality of zoophilia by country or territory.svg edit

Since you seem to have been the last person to edit this, and seem also to have used a Wikipedia article as a source to do so in a previous edit, you should probably be aware that discussions on the English-language Wikipedia regarding the now deleted 'Legality of bestiality by country or territory' article there (now deleted, per AfD [1]) which seems most likely to have been the original source for its composition, came to the conclusion that the claims made in that article regarding legality or otherwise of bestiality in various legislations were dubious, and probably better described as partisan fiction in some cases. Given this, the English-language Wikipedia no longer uses the file, obviously, but I note that it does still to be in use in several other places. In my opinion, the best procedure would be to delete it entirely, as not only unsourced but grossly misleading, and entirely inappropriate anyway as a means of adequately summarising complex legislation on a controversial subject. I could, I suppose, simply propose it for deletion, as contrary to the stated purposes of Commons - which surely don't include misleading readers in such a manner - but before I do that, I'd be interested to see what you have to say. AndyTheGrump (talk) 20:59, 21 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

File:Ongoing conflicts around the world.svg edit

Hello could I make an edit request for this file? I wanted to do them myself but I'm having trouble with coloring them properly in Inkscape.

  • Azerbaijan should be updated and colored yellow (the red color was for 2020 but is no longer current or past year)
  • As per https://acleddata.com/dashboard/#/dashboard,: Papua New Guinea, Honduras, Kyrgyzstan and Venezuela should be yellow (10-99 deaths). Guatemala and Haiti should be orange (100-999 deaths). And technically Brazil should be red because of 2000k+ deaths in battles. --WR 11:09, 9 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Age of Consent Map Change edit

Hello Borysk5,

Since I don't know how to change the colors on a map on Wikipedia, could you please change Texas' age of consent from 16 to 18 (brown to green) on the maps below? Because Fabrickator and I found sources to clarify that the minimum age of consent in Texas is actually 18 instead of 17 according to §43.25 of the Texas Code applies to sexual conduct involving persons under age 18 without regard to a "performance"[1][2][3][4]. And could you also change New Mexico's age of consent on the map below from 17 to 16 (brown to blue) on the global map below as clarified [5] sources along with Kentucky's age from 16 to 18? (blue to green)[6]

I am an (aspiring) American journalist looking to write a story on the park rangers currently fighting in the CAR Civil War and was wondering what your justification was for marking them as a distinct color on the map. @Brooklaika: Hi! The reason why I marked them as separate color is because those park rangers have been acting mostly independently from the central government in Bangui. They are financed by international and non-profit organizations and they focouse on protecting the forests instead of engaging in wars with rebel forces. Ambazonia conflict edit

Hi, thanks for the map that you made! I have a couple of questions, as I am not sure if I understand the data nor the interpretation thereof. Does "rebel presence" mean that the separatists hold these areas, or at least that the government has no control there? (I doubt that is the case with Limbe, which is one of the areas in the Anglophone regions that is least affected by the war, or with the areas in the bordering Francophone regions that have been marked as "rebel presence".) Furthermore, if "sole rebel action" means a rebel attack against government target, does that not mean that there is government presence in those areas? Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 17:23, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Mikrobølgeovn: No, quite the opposite "sole rebel action" means rebel attack without involvment of government forces, such as attack on civilians. Rebels attack against government targets are in yellow colors, all these are from ACLED categorization and the areas are simply drawn around these dots based on colors. So in areas with battles between government and rebels there's yellow area, in areas where only government incidents were reported are red and in areas where only rebels incidents were reported are blue, though I suspect those may not be perfect. Borysk5 (talk) 17:29, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Borysk5: In many instances of rebel attacks on civilians, this often reflects a slow government response rather than no government presence at all. I can believe that the Ambazonian rebels hold large areas in the countryside, but I find it hard to believe that they have exclusive presence in Limbe and in that one area in Francophone Cameroon. (For the record, I know it's incredibly hard to map guerilla wars.) Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 18:42, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Mikrobølgeovn: Yeah those two areas you mentioned are outliers on the map from the main blue area based on singular incidents. Borysk5 (talk) 19:17, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Borysk5: Would it be possible to change the color of those areas to yellow, or would that mess up everything? There are other blue dots in yellow areas elsewhere. Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 19:23, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Mikrobølgeovn: Just did that. Borysk5 (talk) 19:35, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Borysk5: Thank you! By the way, you've done great work both with this map and with mapping in general. Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 19:38, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Mikrobølgeovn: Thanks :D. Borysk5 (talk) 19:44, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi again. While I like the updated map, how do you know specifically where the frontlines are and who controls what? I have been following this war since it was a few months old, and I have struggled to form a clear picture of this. Since you haven't updated the sources, I have to wonder if there are some speculations and assumptions here. (It would be one thing to make a map of which armed groups operate in which areas, but here we are talking about actual control and frontlines.) Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 13:24, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Mikrobølgeovn: Hi! I based areas of the groups based on their mentions in timeline and news:
  • Seven Karta is based in Bafut: [3]
  • Red Dragon is based in Lebialem District [4]
  • Tigers of Ambazonia are present in Manyu ([5]) and Wum ([6])
  • Bambalang Marine Forces I placed around Bambalang as they're named
  • Bui Warriors are present in/near Kumbo ([7]) and seized border crossing in Lus ([8])
  • SCRF active in Fundong ([9])
  • ADF present in Batibo ([10]), Bamenda ([11])
  • SOCADEF present in Munyenge and Matoh ([12])
  • Ambazonia Restoration Army is present in Nguti ([13])

Borysk5 (talk) 13:55, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Borysk5: I understand that, but how do you know that they control all these colored areas? (One more thing: While I like this new map, it would be nice to also keep the previous one that was based on the ACLED data. Could you upload that one as a separate file?) Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 14:01, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Mikrobølgeovn: Uhh yeah, I extrapolated the control from previous map and divided groups based on info above. I guess I could do it. Borysk5 (talk) 14:19, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Borysk5: I think the first map might be more suitable for the infobox of the main article, as it's less speculative. Also, keep in mind that the fields of operation of armed groups often overlap. Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 15:36, 29 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Mikrobølgeovn: I uploaded it as separate file File:Ambazoniaincidents.png. Borysk5 (talk) 15:43, 29 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

File:Yemeni Civil War.svg edit

Hello Borysk5. I see that you have been updating the Yemeni Civil War map. In this map there's a small orange area between the yellow and pink areas, near the coast, near the city of Al Mukalla. It is not described in the English legend (on the file and on English Wikipedia), but on the file's Catalan, German, Greek and Arabic legends it says it's "Controlled by supporters of Ali Abdullah Saleh". But Saleh was killed in 2017. Is this orange area correct? Human Transistor (talk) 01:21, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Human Transistor: . No, the orange from the legend refers to parts of Sana'a controlled by Saleh in 2017. The orange on current map is from revision someone made to showing Mukalla as controlled by STC and Hadi-government. Borysk5 (talk) 07:44, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Borysk5: I asked another user who is a Yemeni and also edits the article and the map and he also said it was controlled by both the government and STC. Btw, Hadi stopped being the president in 7 April 2022. Lets hope someone fixes the legends. Thank you. Human Transistor (talk) 08:38, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed".
