Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

El 21 de enero de 2008 subiste esta imagen con el nombre Estado actual de El Atazar.jpg atribuyéndote autoría de la misma, cuando es evidente que obtuviste la imagen de aquí, falseado por tanto la licencia de la misma. Si vuelvo a detectar una nueva violación de los derechos de una imagen por tu parte daré aviso a un sysop para que bloquee tu cuenta a perpetuidad. La foto de El Pontón de la Oliva, es propiedad de la empresa Canal de Isabel II, tiene copyright de Miguel Angel Gómez, Canal de Isabel II y fue realizada en el mes de noviembre de 1989. Ruego a los administradores de Wikipedia que se mencione la autoría y se amoneste una vez más a Dexter182 que en su perfil constan varias apropiaciones de autoría ajena. Las condiciones de uso de esta foto están limitadas a citar a su autor y procedencia. Así mismo en el texto se cita que está situada en la Sierra de Guadarrama, es incorrecto, está situada en la Sierra Norte de Madrid. Gracias por su atención.
