BH's free images policy does not include photos taken outside India, and there are tons of IIFA images from that site uploaded here illegally. I dont know why these notification for deleting the images being put on my page by you !!!

If commons is not the place to upload the images where one can upload it ? These are the images regarding the wiki 15 celebration at IIT Bombay India. I By deleting these images the related pages will loose them that is all.

Not entirely sure what you'd like comments on, so I'll give one general and one specific. I suppose you already know much of this (it's not like people get elected admins after a month of activity here), but I don't want to omit part of my train of thought.

General: yes, we almost never need multiple copies of the same image. Sometimes it can be useful, e.g. {{Archival version}}, alternate renditions of famous paintings, or odd situations where multiple copies are uploaded to deal with some MediaWiki technical issue, but with a typical user-created image, one copy is sufficient; additional copies should be deleted if there's not already some demonstrated use, although of course any admin should undelete one if someone wants to use the image and the non-deleted one doesn't quite do the trick.

In all the gallery-displayed images in the thread you put at COM:AN, I believe that the color version is more useful than the B&W. Seeing that we (WMF-wide) almost always use color images, and that B&W images are typically used in situations where a color image doesn't exist, I doubt that people are going to use B&W for these images when color's available. That issue's particularly relevant here because these are famous landmarks with tons of pictures; maybe if we had half a dozen images of a place, we could retain all of these, but as Category:Taj Mahal and its subcategories have more than two thousand images, and as Category:Sydney Opera House has several hundred (and each one has a whole subcategory for black-and-white images), I just don't get the point of keeping all of these. Its been observed that you have summarily deleted the Photos which carry lot of good value. You have reduced the Lonar lake into a minor article. Everyone knows how important Lonar is in terms of Geological, Architectural & tourism. By reducing it to minor it has been hurt so much that any international visitor would not bother on visiting.

Pictures from Bollywood Hungama

Hi Dharmadhyaksha, I'm a bit confused about the Bollywood Hungama licence template and I think you are one of the best people to ask how it works. I often feel unsure about images from BH, and right now I'm wondering whether File:Amit Bhadana Photos-Celebs-grave-IWM-Digital-Awards-2019-13.jpg would be allowed, provided the proper attribution and a link to this page are added. It was taken at the IWM Digital Awards which is an event in India – but does it count as a Bollywood event? I can't find any other images with "IWM digital awards" in the description. Secondly, the picture has a watermark which seems promotional to me per Commons:Watermarks#Unacceptable watermarks but again I'm not 100% sure. (I assume the watermark means that it was definitely a BH photographer who took the photo.) As this photo is used by undeclared paid editors for promotion at en.wikipedia I'm not going to look into how I could remove the watermark, if that is an option – I won't try to have the image deleted if it is in fact legal to have it here, but also won't use my volunteer time to help those people earn money.

If that image is not eligible for the BH licence, how about File:Celebs grace IWM Digital Awards 2019 Crop image.jpg? I tag pictures as copyright violations from time to time, and this particular area, with cropped versions of potentially copyrighted pictures, is one where I should really be better informed.

I can tag these images for deletion if they are in fact not eligible for Commons, but I guess I should place Template:BollywoodHungama on BH images to flag them for review in future, unless they are obvious copyvios?

Hi @Bonadea: , Bollywood Hungama through an OTRS email have given permission to use some of the images from their website. This includes events that take place in India. You may check the template Template:BollywoodHungama for all the conditions. As per that i dont think this image is copyrighted. However, it is necessary to provide the link to the exact image and the file to be tagged with this template so that it get reviewed. You may yourself add the image link in file description so an admin or reviewer can check it. Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.

After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.

The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.

Hi Dharmadhyaksha. Would you mind taking a look at File:Bandera CELAC.png and checking whether it's the same as File:CELAC.png which you deleted as a copyvio back in December 2015? How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Sound Logo

Hello,

I am messaging you because a contest for a sound logo for Wikimedia is being developed and your opinion as a Wikimedia Commons admin is appreciated. My team would like to know if it is possible for the top finalist sound logos in the contest to have attribution temporarily hidden from public view until all the votes are final? The idea is to let the public judge the sound logo contestants based on the merit of the logo, not the person or people who made it. Again, any feedback is appreciated.
