Sasanian Empire map edit

Hello history of Iran, at first it's an honor to make a discussion with you.

You've made an amazing high detailed map of the Sasanian Empire, however according to some sources I've read, is that the Sasanian Empire ruled over tokharistan and Gandhara up until 625 CE. when it was conquered by the western Turks.

The definitive annexation of Tokharistan and Gandhara to the Western Türk Empire was to take place some years later, in c. 625, when Sasanian Iran became involved in the war against Byzantium that ultimately led to its eclipse." in Dani, Ahmad Hasan; Litvinsky, B. A. History of Civilizations of Central Asia: The crossroads of civilizations, A.D. 250 to 750. UNESCO. pp. 370–375. ISBN 978-92-3-103211-0. Xani LapZerin (talk) 00:05, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Xani, the honor is all mine. Yep, I know about that source - albeit it has great information, it's unfortunately very outdated, and thus has stuff that is no longer acknowledged in scholarship, including stuff about Sasanian history in the Indian and eastern Iranian world. --HistoryofIran (talk) 00:08, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Zakarid Armenia flag edit

Hello, can we add File:Flag of Zakarid Armenia.png to main page? The symbol is based on depicted scene of coat of arms on Geghard LexaneAlex (talk) 18:33, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Not unless you have a source that states the image was their flag. Also, where did u get that image from? --HistoryofIran (talk) 18:51, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
But most of flags that are in wikipedia aren't sourced anyhow (mosltly flags before 10th century), most of them are just based on symbols found on crowns, walls and etc as this flag is. And symbol is made by help of reddit user (no any problems with license) LexaneAlex (talk) 18:54, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Then they should be removed as well, as they mostly have been in Middle Eastern related articles. I'm not seeing how fictional flags will improve the authenticity of an article. --HistoryofIran (talk) 18:56, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Urud's empire of 40/39-38 BC map edit

Greetings to you, honorable HistoryofIran!

Before getting to the matter at hand I'd like to express my gratitude and respect towards you for the great work you're doing, especially the detailed and researched maps.

Now I'd like to ask you, would you consider making the map of the Parthian empire during the last years of Urud the Second's reign, one which would include the Levant, Syria, and Anatolia? The Roman sources make quite a big deal of it and historians such as Overtoom and Shayegan hold this Parthian foray (led, as you most surely know, not only by the King of Kings' son Pakpuhr but also by Roman turncoat Labienus) be "undoubtedly the most ambitious offensive campaign ever attempted by the Arsacids". Now sure, it didn't last long -- a year at best -- but it was a reality for the subjected people and scared the Romans, making them even more aware of Parthian power. Due to its short duration, this map wouldn't be in the main infobox but could help illustrate the furthest Parthians got against Rome. After all, the most famous and oft-featured map of the Empire of the Romans is the one with the provinces of Mesopotamia and Assyria, despite the fact that they were only really part of the Imperium for some two-odd years and the current admits there is no way of knowing their true extent (could be bigger than we imagine, as well as smaller...). My point here isn't to enhance Parthia and tarnish Rome but to help bring balance to how the two are viewed.

Best regards --Juraj103 (talk) 08:25, 26 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Juraj. Why thank you! I am honored. I do plan to make such a map in the future, but unfortunately not atm. I also plan to make a more detailed (whilst still reader-friendly) map that can replace [2]. Unfortunately it takes me many hours to make maps like these, so motivation is really a key-factor here for me, something which I unfortunately don't have atm for pre-Islamic related stuff, as I'm a bit burnt out editing in that area. --HistoryofIran (talk) 14:29, 26 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello. Oh yeah, I can imagine that. Glad to know of those plans though, thank you. Have a great day. --Juraj103 (talk) 12:24, 30 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hope I'm not bothering, honorable one.

Do you know where this quote, attributed to Darayee in Ardašir Pabakan's article, comes from? If Ardashir had been evolved from a noble house, he would have insisted on a report; while various stories show that he intended to gain legitimacy from all Iranian traditions and perhaps foreign tribes. Ref says "Sasanian Empire Untold" but I found nothing of the sort and searching the quote on google scholar yields nothing. --Juraj103 (talk) 13:59, 7 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I can't find anything about Daryaee writing a book called "Sasanian Empire Untold", though that article has a lot of verification issues which needs to be fixed. Perhaps it can be found in the Sasanian Persia - The Rise and Fall of an Empire by Daryaee? --HistoryofIran (talk) 14:10, 8 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately no. I thought maybe it could be from one of his books written only in Persian? But if you say the article itself is shady at best, I believe you. --Juraj103 (talk) 17:59, 8 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Map of Sasanian Empire (2) edit

Hello my brother

I feel there is a problem with the map, why there is no Khwarazm & Sogdia & Tokharistan? the Sasanian Empire conquer it again after the first Perso-Turkic war. Did they lose it during khosrow II? Most of maps are made in that way i say: https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sasanian_Empire_621_A.D.jpg#mw-jump-to-license https://www.britannica.com/topic/Sasanian-dynasty https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:This_map_depicts_the_Sassanid_Empire_from_602_A.D._-_620_A.D.png https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:SassanianEmpireHistoryofIran.png https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Sassanid_Persian_Empire_at_it%27s_greatest_extent_cca._620_A.D.png https://pt.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ficheiro:The_Sasanian_Persian_Empire_ca._620_A.D.jpg https://www.worldhistorymaps.info/civilizations/sassanid-persians-dynasty/ https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Sasanian_Empire_expansion_(prototype).jpg https://mapsontheweb.zoom-maps.com/post/172764003667/the-sasanid-empire-at-its-territorial-peak-in-the/amp https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sasanian_Empire_Greatest_Extent_621_A.D.jpg https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sasanian_Empire_Territorial_Expansion_(Final_Product).pdf https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Sasanian_Empire_from_600_A.D.-620_A.D.png https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Persian_empires_sassanid_achaemenid_safavid.jpg https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sasanian_Empire_(greatest_extent).svg https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sasanian_Empire_cca._620_A.D.png https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:Sassanid_Empire_620-627.svg https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sassanid_Empire,_Khosrow_II_period(AD620).png https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sassanid_Empire_620.png

Hi. The Sasanians never gained Khwarazm during the First Perso-Turkic war, their maximum extent was Sogdia under Hormizd IV, which they lost shortly afterwards along with Kadagistan (Tokharistan). --HistoryofIran (talk) 12:21, 14 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes you right but why so many webs that i sent like britannica and wikipedia(in Sasanian conquest of egypt page and...) still have sogdia or khwarazm?
Even you can see this thing that is mentioned in Wikipedia of Khwarazm:
During the reign of Khosrow II, extensive areas of Khwarezm were conquered.[39] Pourshariati 2011, p. 290 Xctis (talk) 09:14, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
The Pourshariati source is a bit miscited. The source narrates what Ibn Isfandiyar says, whose statement regarding Khwarazm is not corroborated by other sources. Britannica is also barely reliable, being at the very best bottom tier quality. And Wikipedia maps can't be used a source. --HistoryofIran (talk) 12:09, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot
But don't you think it's a little bit unfair that Sasanian empire doesn't have at least 3 or 4 maps like Roman empire, Ottoman or...? Because there have been several important periods, once Shapur's [I] time, the Kushans were under the rule, and the Sassanids took control of Khwarazm as well(it's the greatest extent of them in the east). A period that Hephthalites become power then Khosrow I conquer them with gokturks (later more completed by Bahram Chobin). Finally this Khosrow II [Parviz](the greatest extent of them in the west). Xctis (talk) 18:48, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I do agree that the Sasanians could use maps for different periods, and I do plan on making more of those. Unfortunately interest in the Sasanian Empire isn't as high as it is on the Ottoman and especially Roman Empire, thus a lack of not only maps, but a lot of other stuff as well. --HistoryofIran (talk) 18:53, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Uzun Hasan edit

Salam. I found that you have uploaded the image of Jahanshah, ruler of Karagoyunlu, to Commons. Can you find and download the picture of Uzun Hasan in the same way? According to my research, there are pictures of many rulers before and after Uzun Hasan. That's why I think that there is actually a picture of Uzun Hasan. Hi, it was just a coincidence that I found an image of Jahanshah - I found it when trying to find the paintings of Abu'l-Hasan Mostawfi Ghaffari. But if I find something about Uzun Hasan, I'll upload it - I bet there is a depiction of him in a miniature, though I haven't come across one so far.
