Hello LuckyLisp,

First, welcome to the Wikimedia Commons Community. I've seen you are active uploading images from Sicily. Are you living there? I passed my vacancies several times there and was very impressed by the cultural variety of this land.

Some remarks regaring your uploads: I noticed that your pictures alone appear immediately on the page Category:Sicilia. If you have a look there, you can see that this category is specially organized. It has subcategories, e.g. Category:Cities in Sicily, and in this subcategory, there are articles, e.g. Brolo which I created for placing your picture there.

Even if there is no general regulation on whether images should preferrably be put in articles or in categories, I think it useful to adapt to the situation in a given category because many people have been working structuring the category this way. Also I first preferred to put my images under the category Sicilia, but I let myself be persuaded to fit into the system developed there.

I therefore would ask you not to put your pictures into the category Sicilia, but to invest the little more work and time to integrate them into one of the existing articles or to create a new one for this purpose. This also has the advantage that you can put a small text under the image explaining what can be seen thereon.

Further, putting images in a category that does not exist at all (e.g. Category:Brolo), will not have any effect that the images can be found. It is like not indicating the category at all.

P.S.: I have seen your attempts to put Image:cattedrale_agrigento.jpg on the Agrigento page. Your entry was correct, it only does not work because the image is uploaded on the Italian wikipedia and not on Commons. However, it would be nice to have it on Commons, too, so that it also can be used on other language wikipadias. I would put this image on the German site, for example. If you have uploaded it on Commons, you may delete it from the Italian wikipedia because all wikipedias automatically load an image from commons in the same way as from the local wikipedia.

Your account will be renamed

Hello,

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called LuckyLisp. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name LuckyLisp~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
