I have to delete this picture, because it is a picture of a copyrighted advertisement. The picture is thus derivative work and copyrighted by the creator of the advertisement. -- Bryan (talk to me) 21:55, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I already thought so, but the picture was made in the street, it's not taken from any website nor anything. It was a poster in the underground of London. So it's just a picture of the environment. Is it still copyrighted then?
Onofre Bouvila 22:06, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sorry. Yes. That is how copyright law works, and there is nothing we can change about it. This applies virtually on the entire planet, with possible exception Afghanistan, since they don't have a copyright law there. In some countries freedom of panorama applies, but that is only for permanent installed works. -- Bryan (talk to me) 22:14, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hello,
Bryan is right. Please read Commons:Derivative works to understand why it was deleted as a copyright violation. Regards, Yann 22:51, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, then ok. But firstly he said it was a picture of an advertisement, and that's not right, it was a picture of a wall where someone had put an advertisment, which is quite different. Anyway I'm from Spain, I don't understand why I have to follow the US laws.
Onofre Bouvila 22:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
En España tienes libertad de panorama en ciertos casos, pero en este caso se aplican también las leyes britanicas que no sé qué dirán y además el Metro de Londres es un sitio cerrado con lo que dudo que se aplique esta libertad. --Error 00:45, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you still here ? We can do the move now. You just have to uplaod again your image with the name of "Image:Map-Hispanophone World.png", cut the old page, and past our en/fr/es/ca legend.
You did the new map, so I can uplaod it up on "Image:Map-Hispanophone World.png": it's your work.
I'm admin, I will "overview" this page tomorow and all the week to check vandalisms.
--Yug (talk) 00:10, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I moved the text to the old map (see Image:Map-Hispanophone_World.png). Move quickly your map : you have to uplaod your new map by here, then that will replace the old map. --Yug (talk) 00:29, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK!! It's all done, good job ;) Onofre Bouvila 01:31, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok, All if fine now and I really prefer this way !
Add this image page to your watch list, I think some americans will come back and scream "USA are not all blue & spanish speaking !". To avoid such edition war, it will probably need to find lighter blue for USA, to clearly show "USA just host many spanish speaker, but yes : your contry is still english speaking."
Anyway, I will soon stop to watch this map : to much edition wars on it in one year. I hope peace is now our. ;] --Yug (talk) 09:16, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hello,
If people want change the legend into something which will be more contreversial, refuse it. I can back you y locking the image if need. You did a pretty nice neutralization, we have to keep it fine. Yug (talk) 22:57, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Nootka_Sound_NASA.PNG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Francophonia edit

Note that this word, in French, can have two meaning :

  1. association of country loving French (Roumania and Poland are in this association)
  2. all the country with wide range of the population talking French. (Roumania, Poland, Marrocco are not in this French Speaking world)

That's why Marocco (loving french, but no many native French speakers) is in the association, but not in the "French speaking world". Yug (talk) 20:07, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

On the talk page of the Hispanophone-world map, you talk about the fact that coutry with really little french speakers are in the Francophonia. But in the case of Marrocco, Marrocco is in the "Assossiation: Francophonia", but clearly not in the "French speaking world". Just for this. Yug (talk) 00:30, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Spanish language map needs to be changed edit

At the moment there are parts of the map that are shaded that shouldn't be. The following link states that the majority of the population of Paraguay speaks Guarani. Spanish is mostly spoken in the capital. Let me know if this source is reliable enough. If it is then Paraguay should be a different colour.

http://www.ethnologue.com/show_country.asp?name=PY

I like the way the French and German language pages have done it. Please, feel free to have a look

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Map_German_SpeakingWorld.png

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Map-Francophone_World.png

I think that the maps show that German and French are spoken all over the world without having to colour in entire countries. I also like the fact that Quebec is a different color from the rest of Canada as it shows the special status of the region within Canada. What's your opinion? Maybe we could just have two squares indicating where the two Spanish cities are in Morrocco instead of colouring the entire country. Also Spanish is not spoken in Brazil.
