Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Your image or other content, Vorlage:Navigationsleiste Denkmalgeschützte Objekte im Bezirk Perg, was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at educational media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. The expression “educational” is to be understood according to its broad meaning of “providing knowledge; instructional or informative”. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote. If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. Otherwise, consider an alternative outlet. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. Hallo Pfeifferfranz, das Bild ist doch nicht am 29.9.2012 entstanden? Das Datum in der Bildbeschreibung gibt das Aufnahmedatum / Entstehungsdatum an. Gerade bei Denkmälern, die verändert oder zerstört werden können, ist der Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme eine wesentliche Information. Wenn du dich noch erinnern kannst, von wann das Foto stammt, darf ich dich ersuchen, das nachzutragen? Kann ja auch nur das Jahr sein. Vielleicht hast du noch andere alte Fotos hochgeladen, dort gilt das analog. danke und lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 06:53, 18 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Danke für den Hinweise. Dieses und die anderen Bilder aus Dorf an der Pram, die ich im September hochgeladen habe, wurden nicht von mir gemacht. Das Support-Team kümmert sich bereits um die Klärung der Lizenzfrage, weil das Zustimmungsmail der Gemeinde, das ich an das Support-Team weitergeleitet habe, leider zuwenig präzise war. Vielleicht erheben die auch, wann die Bilder aufgenommen wurden. Ich habe auf den Dateien leider keine Hinweise gefunden.Pfeifferfranz (talk) 07:17, 18 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hallo Pfeifferfranz, danke für die Antwort. Nach [1] sind diese Bilder willkommen, aber - da keine eigenen - nicht für WLM 2012 zugelassen. Danke für den Hinweis, ich habe das Entstehungsdatum entfernt. Die Bilder sind nur zufällig in den Wettbewerb gerutscht. Nach der Aktion bei der Ortsbildmesse mit Verteilung der leeren oder halbleeren Denkmallisten an die Gemeinden haben sich einige gemeldet und Bilder zur Verfügung gestellt, die dann hochgeladen wurden (trotz Bemühungen teilweise mit urheberrechtlichen Problemen. Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

Hallo Pfeifferfranz, du hast die Category:Windhaager Portiunkulakirche angelegt mit der ID 19180, der gleichen wie beim Category:Pfarrhof Windhaag. Nun ist die Portiunkulakirche lt. BDA gar nicht geschützt. Wie können wir das aufdröseln? Mein Vorschlag wäre es die Portiunkulakirche aus dem Denkmalschutz zu entlassen. Hallo Herzipinki! Ob die Portiunkulakirche unter Denkmalschutz steht oder nicht weiß ich nicht, das kann höchstens aus dem Bescheid des BDA erkennbar sein. Allerdings stehen sowohl der Pfarrhof (Mesnerhaus) als auch die ehemalige Kirche auf demselben Grundstück .69 in der KG Windhaag bei Perg, sodass ich angenommen habe, dass sich der Denkmalschutz auf alles erstreckt, was sich auf diesem Grundstück befindet. Kirche und ehemaliges Mesnerhaus wurden zeitgleich errichtet. Ich weiß nicht wie genau Doris ist, aber es scheint auf den ersten Blick auf meiner Skizze so, dass der südliche Teil beider Gebäude auf einem anderen Grundstück steht. Du kannst verfahren, wie du es für richtiger hälts, also entweder alle Bilder zusammenziehen unter Pfarrhof, wenn es nur eine Kategorie mit derselben Denkmalnummer geben soll, oder aus dem Denkmalschutz entlassen, wenn sich herausstellt, dass wirklich nur der Teil des Pfarrhofes geschützt ist. --Bergwerker (talk) 18:13, 8 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Danke, der Pfarrhof hat lt. Doris die Adresse Eva-Magdalena-Straße 6 (was mit den BDA-Listen übereinstimmt, allerdings ursprünglich die alte Adresse Windhaag 3!), die Aufbahrungshalle die Adresse Eva-Magdalena-Straße 3. Ich fordere mal das Datenblatt an, und nehme vorläufig die Kapelle aus dem Denkmalschutz. Ich trag es auch noch in die Fehlerliste ein. Dass auf einem Grundstück bei mehreren nicht alle Gebäude geschützt sind, ist die Regel. Zur Genauigkeit der GIS-Dienste. lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 19:23, 8 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 - Ein Wiki-Beitrag für die Denkmaltopographie edit

Hallo Pfeifferfranz,

vor zehn Tagen endete der vierte Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments. Du hast daran aktiv teilgenommen und wir möchten Dir dafür herzlich danken.

Mit mehr als 35 Tausend Fotos hat Deutschland wie in den Vorjahren ein gutes Ergebnis erreicht und einen Anteil von 14 % an diesem internationalen Projekt erbracht, an dem sich 40 Länder beteiligten. Sehr erfreulich ist die hohe Zahl an 651 Teilnehmern allein in Deutschland. Schon zum Abschluss des Wettbewerbs waren rund 6000 Fotos (=17 %) in Listen und Artikel eingebunden. Einen detaillierten Überblick zu den Fotos, den Bundesländern und Teilnehmern findest du auf unserer WLM-Projektseite.

Die deutsche Jury hat nun die eingereichten Beiträge übernommen und ist gegenwärtig dabei, diesen wertvollen Fotobestand zu den Kulturdenkmalen zu sichten. Am nächsten Wochenende wird in Hamburg die entscheidende Jury-Sitzung stattfinden. Wir wünschen auch Dir mit Deinem Foto-Beitrag dabei viel Glück und Erfolg. Du darfst gespannt sein und all Deine Freunde bitten, Dir die Daumen zu drücken.

Die preisgekrönten 100 Gewinner-Fotos werden in der Woche ab dem 20. Oktober veröffentlicht. Auf dieser Grundlage wird auch in diesem Jahr ein Kalender-Poster für 2015 gedruckt werden.

Auf zwei Möglichkeiten einer weiteren aktiven Mitwirkung an unserem Denkmal-Projekt möchten wir bei dieser Gelegenheit hinweisen bzw. Dich dazu einladen:

Unsere Freunde in Österreich haben mit einem gerade gestarteten Denkmal-Cup das Editieren von Denkmallisten und Denkmalartikeln in den Focus gerückt. Bis Ende des Jahres kannst Du Punkte sammeln und Preise gewinnen. Dabei geht es mit diesem Wettbewerb nicht nur um Kulturdenkmale in AT oder D, sondern generell um Denkmale in der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia, als offen für alle Länder.

Vom 6.-8. November findet erneut die Europäische Denkmalmesse in Leipzig statt. Mit Unterstützung von Wikimedia Deutschland e.V. werden wir zum zweiten Mal die Ergebnisse von Wiki Loves Monuments im Rahmen eines Standes sowie eines Workshops vorstellen.

WLM-Aktivisten sind herzlich eingeladen, bei der Betreuung des Messestandes sowie in den Gesprächen über Möglichkeiten einer partnerschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit mit den Denkmalbehörden mitzuwirken. Die Reisekosten übernimmt für 8-10 registrierte Standbetreuer WMDE. Es muss nicht der gesamte Messezeitraum sein, auch eine Mitwirkung an 2 Tagen hilft uns, den Beitrag der Wikipedia für die Denkmaltopographie sichtbar zu machen.

Und schließlich gilt: Nach dem Wettbewerb ist vor dem Wettbewerb. Bereits jetzt kann jeder mit der Planung von Wiki Loves Monuments 2015 beginnen. Wir freuen uns auf Deine weiteren Beiträge für Wikimedia-Projekte.

Der WLM-Countdown hat begonnen edit

Hallo Pfeifferfranz,

nun ist es wieder soweit. Vom 1. bis zum 30. September findet zum fünften Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Im Mittelpunkt steht bekanntlich das Fotografieren von Kulturdenkmalen. Du hast an einem der letzten Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen und wir freuen uns auf weitere Bildbeiträge von Dir.

Viele interessante Motive, nicht nur Burgen und Schlösser, sondern auch Fachwerkhäuser, Brücken und Brunnen, technische und Industriedenkmale und vieles mehr gibt es noch zu fotografieren, damit sie in der Wikipedia dokumentiert werden können. Nützliche Tipps findest du auf unserer WLM-Projektseite. Du kannst gerne individuell Fototouren durchführen oder aber Dich auch Gruppentouren anschließen. Besonders freuen wir uns auf Fotos, die Lücken in den Denkmallisten der Wikipedia ausfüllen.

Darüber hinaus kannst Du auch an der Arbeit der Jury teilnehmen, die Mitte Oktober die Fotos bewerten und die Gewinner ermitteln wird. Bis zum 15. August kannst du hier Deine Bewerbung einreichen.

Hallo Pfeifferfranz, bitte beachte beim Kategorisieren COM:OVERCAT. Wenn du eine Kategorie wie Category:Dachsteinsüdwandbahn 2013 anlegst, die eine Unterkategorie von Category:Dachsteinsüdwandbahn und Category:Cable Cars designed by Christian Natschläger ist, dann sollten alle Fotos, die in dieser Kategorie sind, nicht mehr in einer der übergeordneten Kategorien sein. darkweasel94 13:50, 18 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Nicht wirklich, die Regel existiert schon sehr lange und ist auch sinnvoll, denn ansonsten wären all diese Fotos womöglich auch noch in Category:Austria und Category:Europe zu finden, was ja nicht sinnvoll wäre. Danke für deine Mitarbeit! darkweasel94 14:18, 18 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hallo Franz, die Firebrigades in Grein sind eine Fleißaufgabe ;-) - denn in Grein gibt es nur eine FF siehe hier. In diesem Fall wird die einzige FF direkt im Bezirk eingeordnet. Nur wenn es in einer Gemeinde mehrere gibt, sind die Fire brigades in .. dazwischen geschaltet werden, abgesehen davon dass die Fire brigade aus zwei Wörtern besteht. Im RW sind bei jeder Gemeinde alle FF angeführt (OÖ, NÖ, B - die anderen Bundesländern fehlen großteils. --K@rl (talk) 22:00, 21 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
