Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Bonjour et merci pour votre participation à Wiki Loves Monuments.

Je suis désolé pour cette demande de suppression mais Wikimedia Commons ainsi que le concours Wiki Loves Monuments (cf. art. 4 du règlement) se doivent de respecter la législation française.

J'ai un doute sur la photographie File:UsineSuzeMaisonsAlfort201309.jpg. Je n'arrive pas à trouver la date de mort de l'architecte, Paul Fénard. Auriez-vous cette information ?

N’hésitez pas à ajouter d’autres clichés, en vérifiant bien que l'édifice concerné est admissible sur Commons.

Bonjour,

Désolé, je n'ai aucune information sur l'architecte, Paul Fénard. Les deux photos ont été prises seulement pour compléter des vides dans la liste de Wiki Loves Monument. Je me doutais qu'il pourrait y avoir des problèmes parce que les constructions ne sont pas très anciennes. Si les photos sont retirées de Commons, ce ne sera pas très grave. En tous cas, merci pour votre message.

Hello, Rene1596. Could you please explain what your garbled 'additional information' to the edit summary was about? I've reverted it as I'm currently questioning the uploader to please provide sources. Making things up as you go along (that is, making assumptions about bad faith) is neither constructive nor civil.

If you'd bothered to check the uploader's page, you would have seen that I'm trying to get to the bottom of whether this is pure speculation (original research). If so, I will have it speedily deleted. Thank you for your understanding. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 09:16, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Iryna Harpy. The map is not about ethnic groups. It is based on the 2001 census, which is not about ethnicity, but about nationality. Nowhere in the census you will see the words "етнічних груп" (ethnic group). This is because the census did not ask that question to people. It would have not been politically correct to ask that question. And, it would not have been possible to answer that question, because a person may have a father who is an "ethnic Ukrainian" and a mother who is an "ethnic Russian". The map is only about "nationality". See the title in the census: "Національний склад населення". --Rene1596 (talk) 09:45, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Rene1596. Yes, I was going to remove the map from the Ukraine article because (from my knowledge of the census) the whole thing looks nonsensical, but then the RfC about which map (and other edit warring) began. I'm going to remove it now. I'm just going to give the uploader another day or so to answer my question about their sources before nominating it for deletion here. Apologies for having jumped down your throat on the matter, but it's better not to make it look as if there are POV nationalistic objections rather than a straightforward 'no sources' objection. Wiki Loves Monuments France 2019 edit

Bonjour,

Le concours Wiki Loves Monuments France est de retour et ouvert jusqu'à 31 septembre ! Déjà 8309 photos ont été importés cette année, vous aussi rejoignez le concours !

Le concours concerne tous les monuments présents dans la base Mérimée (qu'ils soient classés, inscrits ou simplement classés). De l'imposant château aux ruines industrielles, de la chapelle au coin de la rue aux mégalithes en forêt, c'est un impressionnant patrimoine qui attend d'être photographié et documenté. Où que vous soyez il y a des monuments autour de chez vous. Enfin, vous pouvez mettre en ligne autant de photos que vous le souhaitez de ces monuments. Pour information, le règlement est disponible sur le site du concours. Nous attendons vos photos avec impatience !

Les plus belles photos seront sélectionnées par un jury national composé d'amateurs et de professionnels, de contributeurs à Wikimedia Commons et d'acteurs du patrimoine. Un jury international sélectionnera ensuite des meilleures photographies mondiales.

Si vous avez des questions, l'équipe organisatrice se fera un plaisir d'y répondre.

Le concours Wiki Loves Monuments France est ouvert pour une semaine encore, jusqu'au 30 septembre. Déjà plus de 6 000 photos ont été importées cette année alors vous aussi rejoignez le concours ! Cette campagne de contribution concerne tous les monuments et objets mobiliers présents dans la base Mérimée et dans la base Palissy. De l'imposant château aux ruines industrielles, de la verrière décorative au reliquaire, c'est un impressionnant patrimoine qui attend d'être photographié et documenté. Vous pouvez dès à présent mettre en ligne autant de photos que vous le souhaitez de ces monuments et objets du patrimoine français. Nous attendons vos photos avec impatience !

Les plus belles photos seront sélectionnées par un jury national composé d'amateurs et de professionnels, de contributeurs à Wikimedia Commons et d'acteurs du patrimoine. Un jury international constituera ensuite une sélection des meilleures photographies mondiales.
