FP Barnstar edit

Thank you so much for your kindness! Yes, I have a lot of them but they are from a time when it was much easier to promote them. It looks like I am the first victim of my own attempts to make FP a harder place... No regrets, the harder it is the better it feels when our pictures are recognized! Or maybe it is the time of the talented newbies. Cheers, Alvesgaspar (talk) 19:38, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello !
Thank you for supporting my spanish dam ! Could you please explain what do you mean with your annotation on the pic, I'm not sure I understand very well. I just can say that the "water curtain" is nor straight, but a bit curved, neither vertical. Is that what you mean ? Do you think it could be improved ?--Jebulon (talk) 21:35, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

MOP edit

I may, but should I? I've got just 17 FPs, and new ones apparently aren't coming :) 17 is a lot less that most guys at MOP. Wolf (talk) 20:03, 10 October 2010 (UTC) PS. You'd really rather see the whole airplane in a picture of the tail?   Wolf (talk) 20:03, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Depends. This picture is 4MPx, so you can see each and every bolt, you can literally count those on the rear edge of the tail fin, you can see the flaws in the paintjob; this picture was made as a picture of the tail. But it's not really that I care very much for this picture. I care a lot more for that of the IAR 99.   As for MOP, perhaps you're right. Wolf (talk) 20:21, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Image value edit

Hi The High Fin Sperm Whale. You relatively often oppose images for no value reason. May I please ask you if this image has a value in your opinion? Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 19:58, 23 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your response, and for promoting the image on QI. Let's keep our conversation here. It will be easier to follow up on it, if it is in one place. Now let's talk some more about the image value please. Wasn't this strange in your opinion that the ocean went so far back actually exposing the bottom. It happens only few times per year during very, very low tide, and this is quite an unusual scene. Last night the tide was almost -1 foot. Is not this fact alone gives the value to the image? And what about the reflection? --Mbz1 (talk) 20:16, 23 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sure, if you want to. Now I see why it is valuable. However, I had no way of knowing this, since all the image description said about this was "Negative low tide". If you add a more descriptive, well, description, then I think this would have a fair chance on FPC. --The High Fin Sperm Whale 20:35, 23 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Valued Image Promotion edit

Your nomination has been reviewed and promoted
Congratulations! The image you nominated was reviewed and has now been promoted as a valued image. It is considered to be the most valued image on Commons within the scope:
Calendula officinalis (Pot marigold), flower.
If you would like to nominate another image, please do so at Valued images candidates.

Please reconsider your vote edit

I would appreciate you reconsidering your oppose vote about the sexual content policy. I see value in having a written policy that includes all the current written policies and unwritten practices so that we can point readers and new editors to the best practices about handling of sexual content. While it may not be perfect, having this will make it more understandable to more people, I think. Thanks, FloNight♥♥♥ 09:54, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

My User Page edit

Is my Temporary Userpage ok? Also, I have the Round Corners Template on one of my user subpages. If you'd like to use it, replace what would be {{Round corners}} on wikipedia with {{User:Thomas888b/Round Corners}} On Commons, be sure to get the capital letters in the right places though, otherwise it won't work. Also, feel free to put your wikipedia Barn Star from me on your commons page aswell if you like.  . Thomas888b (talk) 18:05, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Can you fix the glare and the tilt? Help much appreciated! --Tyw7  (☎ Contact me! • Contributions)   Changing the world one edit at a time! 21:18, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Problem with the big ben is that it is extremely tall and one would have to tilt backward to fully capture it. London is a very busy town and unless you are in a helicopter, its hard to see the big ben from afair without obstruction. Is there a graphics lab here on commons to touch up the pic? --Tyw7  (☎ Contact me! • Contributions)   Changing the world one edit at a time! 05:56, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Don't tink bad of me edit

I voted for oppose for a very simple reason. The foot is cropped right at the edge. Some more room would be needed. Also its hard onto the limit to overexposure as you already mentioned. But since when do we give simple oppose statements with no reason at all and expect from others to care how they vote? This is just an reminder for him. --Niabot (talk) 17:36, 13 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I understand your reasoning, but wouldn't it be better to ask him why he opposed your image on his talk page than oppose his without reason? It's not that I object to your reason for opposing, I voted neutral for the same reason. It best to resolve an issue on discussion pages, not point out the error of someone's ways by doing the same thing. --The High Fin Sperm Whale 18:10, 13 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I know. But after i tried this multiple times i have given up on it: No reaction at all, just deleted (house right), etc. As in this case you see that the response somehow follows quickly. And i still think that someone that says directly "oppose for all porn" has lost all legitimacy to get fair votes by myself. --Niabot (talk) 18:22, 13 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
