Wiki takes the Louvre

Hello Thesupermat. Suite à notre virée au Louvre la catégorie Wikipedia takes the Louvre/6 a commencé à se remplir. Il y a notamment les photos remarquables de Selbymay. De mon côté, la qualité n'est vraiment pas au top. Finalement je me débrouille mieux pour les métadonnées ... D'ailleurs pour les éventuelles nouvelles images, n'hésite pas à me solliciter pour l'édition des pages et le renseignement de Wikidata. Et puis ça réhaussera le niveau côté peintures, ^^'. Je crois que la prochaine fois, comme tu me l'as conseillé, je solliciterai Wikimedia France pour un kit photo ; ça ne serait pas du luxe. Bien à toi. --Shonagon (talk) 22:28, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2017 is open!

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

About your 5 photos of the "Benz Victoria" from Bonham's 2017 Paris sale...

I noticed you just added 5 photos from Bonham's 2017 Paris sale of what was claimed to be a "Benz Victoria":

Of course these are legitimate Bonham's 2017 photos, but I've just removed them from the Benz Victoria category. Here's why.

I'm sorry to report that this unfortunate vehicle was ... not what it claimed to be. I certainly wasn't at the sale myself (I live in the wrong hemisphere :), but I remember seeing this vehicle online ... and noticing the "Saleroom notices" at the very bottom of Bonham's entry for the lot:

Veuillez noter que ce lot est un véhicule tiré par des chevaux qui a été mécanisé et monté avec un moteur stationnaire. L'adaptation semble avoir été apportée à une époque récente. Cela n'a aucun rapport avec un véhicule à moteur Benz. Nous avons été informé que le moteur fabriqué par "American Motor Manufacturing Co".

Please note this lot is a horsedrawn vehicle, that has been mechanised with the fitting of a stationary engine. The adaption based appears to have been carried out in modern times. It has no connection to a Benz Motor Vehicle. We are advised that the engine fitted is manufactured by the American Motor Manufacturing Co.

Someone seems to have tried to pass off a modified horsedrawn carriage with an added engine as a genuine Benz Victoria. Comparing with photos of actual Benz Victorias, you can see pretty quickly that it's not the real thing, but a buyer still forked over €28,750 for it!

Wiki Loves Africa 2019

Dear Thesupermat,

You have contributed in the past to the Wiki Loves Africa competition. Your images have helped people learn more about Africa and see Africa more clearly from an African perspective. Overall, nearly 5000 people like you have contributed to this photo contest, and contributed nearly 40000 images about Africa. Pictures from Wiki Loves Africa illustrate more than 7000 Wikipedia articles and they received... 278.859.973 views between 2015 through the end of 2018. WOW ! How does it feel to be part of this and really make a difference when it come to Africa representation on Wikipedia ?

This February, you have another opportunity to create beautiful photographs on the theme of "play" that could change how the world understands people and culture in your part of Africa.

Wiki Loves Africa is a annual public contest where people across Africa can contribute media (photographs, video and audio) about their environment to Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other project websites of the Wikimedia Foundation.

When does it take place?
The 2019 competition will start on 1st February 2019 and close on 1st March 2019.

What should we contribute?
Pictures ! audios ! videos ! The theme for the 2019 contest is... Play.
This theme encompasses a host of approaches and is intentionally open to interpretation. The theme Play! encourages the submission of visual representations of joyful and serious games, sport, and recreation in the form of board or mental games, physical fun or contests, playful interactions, theatrical and musical performances, etc.

In addition to the value your photos contribute to human understanding and african visibility on the Internet, there are several prizes on offer – including two separate prize categories for photos and media that encompass

• (a) capture Women in sport or
• (b) culturally specific and traditional formal forms of play, recreation or events.

Mieux encore... ces photos illustrent aujourd'hui près de 7000 articles Wikipédia et totalisent 278.859.973 vues entre 2015 et fin 2018 !

Ce mois de février vous avez à nouveau l'opportunité de proposer de fabuleuses illustrations sur le thème du "Jeu", qui participeront à changer la façon dont les êtres humains à travers le monde comprennent les habitants et la culture de votre région..

Wiki Loves Africa, c’est un concours public annuel où chacun est invité à partager des illustrations via Wikimedia Commons, en rapport avec le thème de l’année, illustrations qui pourront être utilisées sur Wikipédia ou les autres sites de la Wikimedia Foundation.

Quand le concours se déroule t-il?
Le concours 2019 démarre le 1er février 2019 et cloture le 1er mars 2019.

Quelles sont les contenus attendus?
Des photos ! Des enregistrements audio ! Des vidéos ! Le thème du concours 2019 est ... Jouer.
Ce thème englobe de nombreuses approches, il est aussi intentionnellement ouvert à l’interprétation. Le thème Jouer ! encourage à proposer des représentations de jeux de détente et sérieux, du sport et des divertissements sous la forme de jeux de société ou de jeux intellectuels, d'activités physiques de divertissement ou de compétitions, d'interactions ludiques, de performances théâtrales ou musicales, etc..

En plus de la valeur intrinsèque que vos photos apporteront à la compréhension et à la visibilité du monde africain sur Internet, il y a de nombreux prix à gagner. Dont deux prix spéciaux pour les photos qui représentent

• a) femmes et sport ou
• b) formes de jeux, de divertissements ou d’évènements culturellement spécifiques ou traditionnels.

Wiki Loves Earth France 2019 a commencé !

Bonjour ,

J'ai le plaisir de vous annoncer que la cinquième édition du concours Wiki Loves Earth en France est ouverte !

Le concours concernera 368 zones de toute la France, des parcs nationaux jusqu’aux réserves naturelles régionales englobant ainsi des paysages et biotopes variés.

Pendant le mois de mai, n'hésitez pas à mettre en ligne des photos de ces zones que vous auriez sur vos disques durs ou à vous rendre dans une zone concernée près de chez vous (à l'aide de la carte). Le règlement est disponible sur la page du concours.

Les plus belles photos seront sélectionnées par un jury national composé de commonistes, d'acteurs de l'environnement et de photographes professionnels. Un jury international constituera ensuite une sélection des meilleures photographies mondiales. Vous pourrez retrouver toutes les informations détaillées sur le site du concours

P.S. : si vous ne pouvez pas participer au concours cette année, faites passer le message autour de vous pour que de nouveaux et nouvelles photographes rejoignent l'aventure !

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

• To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
• To perform file name swaps.
• When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Wiki Loves Africa is an annual public contest where people across Africa can contribute media (photographs, video and audio) about their environment to Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other project websites of the Wikimedia Foundation. Study shows Wiki Love Africa recruitment makes a difference

We are writing because you have participated in the Wiki Loves Africa (WLA) photo competition in the past. Results have been published and winning pictures may be seen here !

This year WLA partnered with the research organization CAT Lab (previously CivilServant) to help us evaluate the effectiveness of one of our recruitment efforts. You may or may not have received a message on your user talk page encouraging you to participate again in this year's competition.

Question à un million de cochon

Salut,

Par le plus grand des hasards et sans que ce soit essentiel, saurais-tu d'où viennent les cochons que tu as pris en photo sur File:Salon de l'agriculture 2011 - Porc blanc de l'ouest - 02.jpg, File:Salon de l'agriculture 2011 - Porc blanc de l'ouest - 04.jpg, File:Salon de l'agriculture 2011 - Porc blanc de l'ouest - 05.jpg ? (vu que le nombre d'animal est très faible, de l'ordre de la centaine, il est possible que ceux-ci viennent de l'écomusée de la Bintinais et dans tout les cas, l'information serait fort utiles).

Épitaphe de Louis VI

Bonjour-- Sauriez-vous pourquoi la photo que vous avez faite de la dalle funéraire de Louis VI au Musée de Cluny, et celle par un autre photographe, semblent montrer la dalle dans un état différent de celle que l'on trouve dans le catalogue de la collection du musée? Je dirais qu'il s'agit évidemment de la même dalle, mais chez vos photos, il manque les deux encoches que l'on remarque au bord inférieur de celle du catalogue.
