There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

This proposed deletion is by an asshole who doesn't understand copyright law. Even if the argument put forward were correct, then the image would be PD. Since this is my own copyright, I am leaving it with the current licence (although I often put my own work as PD anyway).--Xenos2008 (talk) 22:40, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

No, it is a denial of the freedom of expression, which also allows ill temper. I think that the complaint that untrained people are interpreting copyright law to my detriment is a legitimate complaint, and when I have pointed out to these people that their understanding of law is incorrect I am entitled to be bad-tempered about their arrogant responses.Xenos2008 (talk) 13:47, 11 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

You really do have little understanding of what a collaborative voluntary project is like. I have no idea what has gone on to make you feel the way you do and I am sorry that you do feel like that however your attitude is not appropriate to a collaborative project such as this sadly. I really would appreciate you making a further edit to your user page - maybe take 24 hours to think it through.

Commons is actually a very good project indeed with a lot of people on it who do understand a lot about copyright law because we have to deal with people who do not understand the ramifications of such laws internationally. We are all volunteers so when people are aggressive/rude it is less than pleasant.

Hi Xenos2008, firstly I will not delete these files myself as I usually do not close the deletion requests I've opened. Secondly, I would rather prefer to keep these magnificent scans. You did a great work here but we still need to clarify their copyright statuses. The least you could do would be to provide statements what is to be found on the opposite sides. Most postcards refer to the photographer or to the company who produced these postcards. These names would siginficantly ease the research of their copyright statuses. Many similar deletion requests ended up in a collaborative work to save such works for Commons. And quite independent from their copyright statuses it is always worthwile to know more about the history behind these photographs. They are not just useful to illustrate Athens in that period but can be used also as samples for the history of photography of that time. Finally, let me add two things: I have nowhere stated that you are in breach of copyright law in these cases, I've just stated that the copyright statuses of these uploads is unclear. This is in itself sufficent to delete them per our precautionary principle. And calling me names has no effect on me, so you do not need to bother. There is nothing to be found on the opposite side, other than a standard Greek/French statement "Postcard" and a symbol and number. Since many publishers actually have used this symbol and format, I assume that it is no more than a categorisation number -- and nobody has the list, these days. The series is stated to have been issued around 1910, according to professional dealers. Since there is no valid copyright law of ANY SORT in Greece until 1920, then this series is without copyright.
