Gazela edit

Hi. Could you please talk to Gazela (talk · contribs) (apparently PALIO10 at the Slovak Wikipedia), who keeps uploading football-themed copyright violations with (probably since certain point only) him-/herself as the author and the current date as the date, including scans from magazines (sometimes specified as the source; some older uploads had a real date, too), and doesn’t seem to react to English, if any at all, talk page messages? Thank you. --AVRS (talk) 17:07, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yet another clarification about a deletion edit

Hi, I have to admit that I'm not very used to Commons (I'm mainly active on the Italian wikipedia), but it's not clear to me why you deleted File:MR spin echo.ogg. Your summary was "incorrect information". What does it mean? Incorrect information conveyed by the file itself, or incorrect licensing/other information? In the former case, could you please point me to the regular deletion discussion page that lead to the decision, I must have missed that and I would like to know why the community decided so. In the latter case, I would be grateful if you could tell me what information I should include. Thanks, see you. --IngFrancesco (talk) 20:41, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! I have to say I didn't understand this policy of "shoot first, ask questions later", but fair enough. --IngFrancesco (talk) 07:26, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

One more edit

got deleted by you on 6th Jan. I am not much conversant about the copyright laws. But, somewhere I saw that in Commons, an image must be in public domain in source country and in US. Since, the subject here (there is a page on him in en.wiki titled Jamshedji Framji Madan) died in 1923. That makes his photographs or images in public domain in India, the source country. I believe that for US public domain also, 1923 is old enough. Can you please tell me whether this is right or wrong? Thanks.--GDibyendu (talk) 09:50, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

DRAE.jpg & DPD.jpg edit

Dear Zirland,

Can I ask why you deleted these images? The photos were taken by me and I put it under PD license. What was the problem? Could you please restore them or send them to me by e-mail for uploading them to the Hungarian Wikipedia? Thanks.

Hi, would you mind doing a regular DR for this file? I don't underestand why you deleted it. In any case, if there was out there without a licence, maybe a vandalic edition erased it, and you better checked before deletion. Please revert it. Kindly, Linfocito B | Greetings from Colombia! 13:30, 9 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of File:Logolibelsmall2.png edit

http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=delete&page=File:Logolibelsmall2.png

Why was the file deleted? I provided a link. Did you look at it? The image was made by Sense About Science to be downloaded by anybody. On the right side of the following page it says "Put this web button on your site":

If that's not a Fair Use image, then I don't know what is! Please restore the image and if I have chosen the wrong documentation, then please correct it. BullRangifer (talk) 13:30, 9 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair Use images are not allowed on Commons.--Zirland (talk) 17:25, 9 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Where does it say that? Maybe this is a matter of how things are worded, and I used the wrong wording. If I had said that this was fair use of an image created for public use, would that make a difference? BullRangifer (talk) 01:39, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of File:MITS Calculator 908DM 1974.jpg edit

In early June I uploaded several 1970s advertisements that I believe are in the public domain. In the US, magazine copyrights do not cover the advertisements within the magazine. Previous to 1989 this required an explicit copyright notice. This rule was even stricter for work before 1978. After I uploaded these files I questioned my reasoning and asked to have the files deleted until the copyright issue was resolved. I have done more research and I am convinced these images are public domain due to no copyright notice.

Here is the summary of my research. Commons_talk:Licensing#Most_pre-1978_magazine_advertisements_are_likely_in_the_public_domain.

What is the process to get the following files undeleted?

File:MITS Calculator 908DM 1974.jpg

Smazání českých mincí a bankovek edit

--Fingon1 (talk) 06:11, 4 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

--Hadonos (talk) 16:56, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of File:Rollout of STS-128 filtered.jpg edit

I was wondering, when you deleted File:Rollout of STS-128 filtered.jpg, did you even read the comments on the discussion page, or on User_talk:TonyBallioni#terms_of_use_violations? Instead of commenting on those very valid objections from both TonyBallioni and myself, corroborated by information from TheDJ, you decided to just delete the image without bothering to even write a single sentence explaining why you think that we are all talking nonsense. I call this bad practice indeed. You didn't even worry about the Featured Pictures main page being disfigured by the absence of this recently promoted picture. I would really love to hear any kind of explanation for your actions. -- JovanCormac 17:50, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Help edit

Hi -- sorry to bother you, but can you help me figure out how to restore the pic, undoing your edit at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sam_Fuld&diff=316650551&oldid=316442556, so that the pic is appropriate? It is simply a crop of the pic that now appears in the infobox (which is inferior, as not cropped to best reflect the subject of the article). Many thanks.--68.173.101.114 01:36, 6 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
