Lucasbfrbot

Operator: Lucasbfr (talk)

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Manually run

Programming Language(s): C# (DotNetWikiBot + API)

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): more or less daily (manually started)

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Y (?)

Functions: I have a bot on the English Wikipedia that orphans images that are duplicates from Commons. As a brain Check, I create a gallery of the images that may be orphaned on both websites. I used to run this under my primary account on Commons (since it only edits my userspace, but I was told it was confusing (and most of my edits here come from the bot, which is not optimal). I am requesting the right officially to do the same thing using the bot account. The bot will not edit other pages than User:Lucasbfr/CommonsImages (Errors), User:Lucasbfr/CommonsImages (Warn), User:Lucasbfr/CommonsImages (Ok). Lucasbfr (talk) 13:16, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

The bot seems to be doing a good job (so far). --Kanonkas(talk) 13:18, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The bot account seems to have made no edits on Commons yet. Do you do a test run here, please? It would be good also to add some text to the bot's page to explain what it does. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 19:15, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's been run under the main account (Lucasbfr - in this case). --Kanonkas(talk) 20:50, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fire it up! Not a lot of edits so a flag is probably not even needed. Multichill (talk) 21:52, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, a flag is probably unnecessary. Lucasbfr (talk) 07:50, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need a flag to run a bot on Commons, if your edits aren't flooding RC. So go ahead and edit at will. If you'd still prefer a flag, it can be attributed, but it's not necessary. Patrícia msg 09:38, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please give the bot a userpage etc  — Mike.lifeguard 18:14, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Given the above, suggest we close this one as "approved for operation - No flag needed" and archive it, unless Lucasbfr really wants a flag (in which case please say so ASAP since I see you said not necessary above)... this has sat long enough I think. ++Lar: t/c 07:40, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nope I don't think a flag is needed, I was just unsure of the Commons procedure for bots :). Lucasbfr (talk) 18:15, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Archived, flag not granted (not needed). Patrícia msg 20:09, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
